Smoked Helles - Cheers!!

 

Got this beer from one of the shipping companies, can't remember which. Best enjoy by date: Dec 33. I think I made it. Really nice.

Diving straight into the Urqs!

I plan to rip these things down the throat-hole at a furious pace today.

1) Drekker Metaphase (8.2% no canning date): A NEIPA from North Dakota with Citra & Nelson Sauvin for flavors of lemon and orange citrus, green citrus, grape, guava, and juicy pine
versus
2) Toppling Goliath Citra Hop Drop (8.1% canned 10/29/2025): A NEIPA from Iowa with Citra, Simcoe, and Krush for flavors of orange, citrus flower, berries, stonefruit, and tropical grape. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Drekker vs. Toppling Goliath Battle. First is Drekker Metaphase. Citra and Nelson. Bright citrus, and sweet white grape. Always one of Drekker's best every year. Far superior to their Ectogasm in my opinion.
Next is Toppling Goliath Citra Hop Drop in collab with Boulevard for a super fresh release. Drinking with nice floral and berry flavors with some hints of dank pine emerging now at two weeks. Very interesting as this evolves and going to keep trying this. For now Drekker Metaphase is King. So lucky to have both of these amazing breweries in North Dakota and Iowa.

Enjoying a Weihenstephaner Vitus Weizenbock 7.7% ABV. This is a wonder beer and I cannot imagine who excellent it is fresh on draft. Fruity aroma with clove and banana flavor. Soft mouthfeel. Barely notice the ABV. Prost!



Our Gingko tree started dropping its annual blanket of bright gold leaves early this morning. Pretty much all done by afternoon

I had Vitus on tap at the brewery last summer. It is sublime!!! Same with Korbinian.

 

The Jai Alai o'clock alarm just went off on my Wahoo Element, so it's time!

 

That makes me very jealous! One of these days...

Helped my Tuesday walking partner unload some steel at his shop today. Afterwards we stopped at a local brewery, Midwest Ale Works, for a couple of cold ones. Zesty Does It Italian Pilsner and Beginners Luck Hazy IPA for me. Cheers!
