The Powder Day is from the Sierra Nevada Snow Pack case. I couldn't resist when I saw this in Costco.

I’ve been really impressed with some of these Near Beers. Though they kind of lose some luster on a shelf in a fridge full of Treehouse . Happy Friday, BA!

This afternoon I’m in desperate need of an IPA. How about the one that started it all for me, Stone IPA. This was long before I’d heard the term “Hop-Head”!

Stone IPA is produced at the flagship Escondido, California location. I see on the can, it is now also brewed at their Richmond, Virginia location as well, ensuring an excellent and un-ending IPA supply to those thirsty Hop-Heads East of the Great Divide! Also good news for Beer-Loving Daughter #3, who was displaced from Stone the past few years in North Carolina! At 6.9% ABV, this is the one that really got me hooked on IPAs over 20 years ago.

Back in the day I’d drive down to Escondido to pick up a fresh 5-gallon keg of Stone IPA and seat belt it lovingly into the back seat! As a home brewer, I was working on and learning how to pressure fill my flip-top bottles, and what better than to do it with some fresh IPA from Stone!

At 6.9% ABV, there’s plenty of booze here too for you party boys and girls. This is really a fantastic IPA, it really set the benchmark and still does IMHO. Great head, great lacing, this was a “Westie” – a West-Coast IPA - before there were West Coast IPA’s. It was one that set the standard - that and the Blind Pig Brewery but that’s another story….! Cheers!

#2 from Founders, I literally yelped when I saw this at my local earlier today. Love the 12 oz format, and the beer is uber world class, IMHO - the oak is more pronounced than I remember, and it’s working exceptionally well. Can’t wait to see how it ages.

I have been to the Richmond brewery a few times. Great place. Great beer. I haven’t been in a while though.
