Gift from my BiL, haven't had any Jackie in quite some time...

Just as good as I remember, lots of caramel sweetness and plenty 'licious bourbon.

Ryewine but it’s pretty much accepted that this thread is for any strong ale that isn’t a stout right? Been wanting to try this for years. It did not disappoint. Cheers!!

I have one coming (along with Gravedigger Billy and SJ). Really excited. Maybe I should have bought more than one, but this is an expensive time of year

This is absolutely glorious. Overall it's hugely sweet but there are so many layers and subtleties at work that it comes across as a refined desert beer.

Caramel, brulee'd brown sugar, vanilla paste, and plenty of delicately sweet, earthy grapes. TH just kills barleywine.

I received this from @snaotheus in a BIF a couple of years ago.

    It is MAGNIFICENT.

Pours a crystal clear rich burnished copper color with a sudsy tan head that lingers amd leaves a cap on the beer. Absolutely gorgeous BA barleywine.

The nose is led by waves of oak, and there’s also decadent caramel aromas, as well as a spicy note that is the referenced baking spice note, and a bit of coconut that I’m thinking is linked to all the oak.

The oak is a bit more refined on the taste, as is the coconut, with the barrel a substantial warming note at the back of the palate, but it’s the decadent caramel and baking spice that elevate this world class barleywine.

The mouthfeel is big and chewy, as expected. What a truly magnificent barleywine this is.

Great name, a gift from my BiL.

This is very tasty, I get toffee and butterscotch up front before a drier finish featuring a tea note and dehydrated, spiced fruit

Just like the good old days, back to back posts! Got my Jackie order in the mail today, my first beer buy since the BIF:scream: Saw @Beersnake posts and got the itch...

This is intensely sweet but I'm liking it. Lots of sticky toffee and lightly brulee'd brown sugar up front, just huge sweetness kicking the palate. The finish doesn't let up, a sugary mixed fruit jam note lingers long. The bourbon blacket over it all is wonderful. Another great one from Jackie.
