Reminds me of my days i Detroit in the mid 80's, taking the tunnel to Windsor, and hitting up the Brewer's Retail Outlet. Lots of raves for Molson Brador and John Labatt's Extra Stock.

From way back when TG was a small batch brewery operating out of what used to be a flower shop in Decorah. The $6 per bomber of PseudoSue. That was the best tasting hazy pale ale that I have probably ever come across. Todays modern PseudoSue doesn't even touch the glory of what the small batch Psue was. RIP to that lovely beer.

This time of the year I miss having Walter`s Holiday Beer on hand.
I didn`t drink Walters all year, but at Christmas time I always had Walter`s Holiday beer on hand.
I always served guests a pilsner glass and a Walter`s long neck Holiday beer. They always got a kick out of the Christmas theme label.

As long as we're in the holiday season I'll mention Lakefront Brewing's Holiday Spice Lager. It's the only spiced beer that I've ever liked. It's been years since I've seen it here in Michigan, and between the BA listing and Lakefront's website, it's confusing about whether it's still brewed. Two beers with similar names and descriptions in the Notes, and both with a review from 2024 on BA, but neither is mentioned on their website.

In the 70' Walter's made a dent in Chicago. The Walter's distributor was located in the little neighborhood southwest of Chicago Av and Western. I saw the trucks (named big Wally #1 and #2), often running down Chicago Av. I never saw their Holiday beer.
When "Elsewhere" Blues Club moved to Clark St., they served Walter's regular and dark drafts. One memorable evening, my wife and I saw Big Joe Duskin from Cincinnati sing and pound the piano. At one point an overenthusiatic patron decided to take the stage and play with the band. Impresario Jay was pressed into service, and he wrestled the interloper off. The Walter brewery, later as Hibernia, produced some tasty brews (I remember the mellow dark wheat beer)
Side Note: In the early 70s, the Walter Pueblo CO brewery (founded by family members, but not associated with the WI Walters) sent their Einbock Bock to southern Ca.

The lack of Bell's in FL.during the December holidays. Used to see huge inventory; 4 stouts, Amber, 3rd Coast, Lager, Two Hearted. Now lucky to see Oberon, Two Hearted, and little else. Florida triple tier system, thank you.

Bell's has relegated many of their smaller-batch beers to Michigan-only or brewery-only distro. I'm pretty sure this trend started before the buy-out, but I think a few more of their beers have been added to the restricted list since then. So that's why you're seeing less of their portfolio.

I'm sure it's still in production, but can't find it anywhere around here anymore. It's not a "fantastic" brew, but it is a very drinkable "daily driver" and I particularly liked the light version. Genesee. They used to sell it at Ingles and then just stopped one day. Bummer.

(sigh) We'll never see that in LFK or northeast Kansas I'll bet.

Still only found the new dinky cans of Pils on the MO side of the state line & then only hit the MO market a month ago.
