I was planning on trying the top 10 rated Marzens, then I saw that two of the HIGHEST RATED MARZENS were brewed by Tree House :expressionless: and one of them was that Founders booze bomb they put out a couple of years ago. I shook my head and went back to drinking my Hacker Pschorr 12 pack

...one would think flashing one's official BA 'Pooh-Bah' badge at one's favorite beer emporium would get some of these hard-to-find beers quicker into one's mitts :sunglasses:...

...that happened to me one time while on a working vacation in Kiribati...a brutal and humbling experience...at least I snagged a suitcase of Stroh's and some dicey imported Maori home brew bottles...that seemed to settle things down (but didn't satisfy my whale hunt)...

...I may have suggested this to @Todd at some point...it would look good next to a BA 'Respect Beer' beer glass and besides being used in person at various BA hookups, could be used virtually (like, say, @LarryV's unofficial BA Zoom meetings)...

A few observations from a person with little interest in "best of" lists.
    1. Imperial stouts, Imperial IPAs, New England IPAs totally dominate the list.
    2. There are very few beers under 8% ABV, almost none under 7%. I enjoy a strong beer occasionally, but at my age 6.5-7.5 is my sweet spot
    3. Many(maybe most) of these beers have limited distribution and are thus unavailable to the vast majority of us.
    4. Obviously BA is a USA focused site, but few of the world's great beers made the list.
But somebody is drinking and enjoying these beers, so y'all keep on so there will still be good beer for my grandchildren to try.

I’m not sure what everyone’s obsession is with the fact that beers on a top list don’t see distribution. These lists exist for food; it can be the best pizza in the world, best pasta, best ice cream, best steak. It could be the “top 10 restaurants to eat at before you die”. None of those see distribution. Or consider looking into ingredients that real chef’s use, or just chef’s you seriously respect or ones that helm restaurants you adore (Olive oil, spices, etc.). They will often talk about a local producer, or product from over seas that isn’t available at your neighborhood market.

That said, obviously BA is a U.S.-focused company, as is Untappd, and the top 250 is obviously a US-centric list. Part of the reason some styles show up so much is because they are so popular here, and people rate by enjoyment, which is especially obvious for lagers, which clearly get a “how much did I enjoy this compared to if I was drinking a BA stout” rating.

I was finally 1 away from hitting 50% and I was just over 50% in the top styles. Backwards we slide again...

Last Buffalo in the Park -

Funky Buddah seems to have re-branded this beer as Snowed In - Bourbon barrel aged, which has its own entry on here.

IMO “Snowed In - Bourbon barrel aged” Should have a note imo that it is the same beer as last buffalo, or “formerly last buffalo” and Last Buffalo should be retired. It’s the same beer.

See funky Buddah Instagram post below for newest release of Snowed in Bourbon barrel aged, where the put Last Buffalo in parenthesis

    thoughts??
