1000 new beers a week, that’s pretty incredible when you think about it! Lots of brewers doing great work! Let’s get drinking (and adding) BA’s!!! LFG
UT can be highly inaccurate. Especially with names (misspellings and duplicates) and ABVs. Would not use as a primary resource.
Purely to play devil's advocate (I know, probably a different site), adding without reviewing can end up with a bunch of "useless" entries that users who find the entry via someting like Google come and find no useful information. Could this end up causing people to find the site, itself, "useless?" That said, I'm already a user and will often not review a beer if it isn't already added. I usually do that if I figure it is a brewery that does so many one-offs, my addition and review might be the only one ever. Right or wrong, good or bad.
@Todd how many repeat users are on each day I would guess close to 500, we could all make a new years resolution to add 1 new beer a day and get this done! Just added my 1 for January 3rd, What have you done for BA today?
I like this challenge! I just added something from Counter Weight here in Cheshire, CT. 500 people add two beers a week for the year gets us ~52,000 beers for the year. I admit 1 per day might be tough, but if someone went to an underrepresented brewery and added 3, 4, or 5 at a time , we could really start moving. After I review this czech amber lager, Im gonna cross reference my favorite local brewery here and our DB. as we are saying here. LFG!!!
I like the enthusiasm, but I'm not going to add a beer for the sake of adding a beer, I'm going to add a beer so I can review it. Shit, I only add notes because the process helps me focus on the review, so that maybe I'll remember if it's a beer I would like to have again. Not like you get karma for either.
I took him to mean regular users. Folks who are on the site multiple times a week, and maybe multiple times a day.
Logged in regulars = thousands daily and tens of thousands weekly. Lurking (logged out members and non-members) = hundreds of thousands daily and millions weekly. Getting both groups to add more beers could definitely alter our timeline to one million beers.
How about adding to help support the BA database I look at breweries I plan on visiting and add beers from their list if they are not already on here so when I am there I don't have to take the time while drinking.
I stopped adding NEIPAs when that classification was removed from the database. I'll keep adding other stuff, though.
That's certainly the other side of the coin here. However, I don't see that as much of an issue, as any info the BA DB provides is better than nothing, especially with small breweries that don't have a robust website that lists more than what is on tap right now. I'd rather err on the side of adding it without a rating or review so that it's available for others, whatever their reason for viewing the brewery or beer page.
