I opened up a couple December bottles this weekend: The Dip: sweet and enjoyable. Plenty of cocoa up front. A bit dry on the finish. I'm not a huge fan of "Blonde Stouts" but those who are will like this one. Cookie Barrel: a bit hot up front. The sweet chocolate and marshmallow are definitely present and came out more as it warmed up. I've got a second bottle of this one that I hope will mellow some over 12 - 18 months. This is definitely what Bruery does best and I really enjoyed this one.
I was just buying some of this month's new releases, and I noticed that they are not offering the bulk discount (extra 5% of 3-5 bottles and extra 10% off 6+ bottles). Older bottles (for example, Lights Out) still get the discount, but not the new ones (Vanilla Villain, etc.). Are others seeing this too? Just want to make sure it's not a glitch on my end somehow. Thanks!
I've only been a member for a few months, but that discount has appeared only on older bottles for me.
It feels random as to when they offer it. I'm honestly not sure if it's purposeful, or if it all depends who updates the website on any given day and whether they know or think to activate the discount.
Agreed, for instance right now I see the discount for Cookie Barrel (December release) but not Stave & Spice (November release).
I ordered some beers for pickup, I am not a member. How long of a pickup window do you they usually give you once the order is ready? I didn’t see a timeframe in the pickup email.
The Gift This one doesn't work for me. There's a sharp tanginess I don't like, probably from either the apple or cognac barrel (not the classic Bruery tang I don't think).
Huh, good to know. As far as I can remember, every time I have purchased 3+ bottles of something, I've gotten the extra discount. But I guess I've just gotten lucky on what I was buying. I'll take it!
I actually emailed them recently asking a similar question and they told me they “typically hold onto the beer for a month”.
This seems correct, Vanilla Villain didn't have it before, but I just looked and now it does. I bet if you didn't get the discount, and you emailed them, they'd give you a credit or something (no guarantees, obviously, but they're usually good about that sort of thing).
Had a Cuivre on NYE - drinking fantastically. Love how well these hold up. Unrelated - has anyone tried ordering and including cellar beers to get them shipped for free? I just ordered some bottles this month, but wasn't thinking and didnt try adding them.
I haven't yet but that was one of the incentives that got me to join. I'm probably going to place an order here in the week or so and see how it goes.
I opened a bottle of 25%/75% Papier in late 2024 and although it was fun to try it was pretty far over the hill. Mine was kept at cellar (55-60) but not fridge temp. In contrast, I opened a 100% BA Coton a few months ago and was pleasantly surprised at how well that one had held up. I don’t know if the full barrel aging helps or if it is just a function of the normal bottle variance that always comes into play after this much cellaring. Every BT I have opened, including several with 10+ years of age, have held up really well, even if some signs of age were present. I hope the Papier is great!
I'm right there with you. No adjunct BA Barleywine is probably my favorite beer style at the moment. I love Mash and this one sounds even better.
This prompted me to open my bottle tonight. I was pleasantly surprised, I like it alot. I definitely get the tanginess you are talking about, but it works for me. I've been a fan of Bruery beers with apple. I'm also a big fan of Cognac barrels.
Awesome! It does seem well made. I've really liked most of their apple beers. And I liked cognac BT. Bummed I wasn't into this.
