I hear my beer calling me from the cellar all the time. I am sorta used to it at this point of my one beer a month regimen.

Honestly, I’ve thought about it, but I’m probably a “maybe” at best. I like the reset idea after the holidays, but I also enjoy having a beer without overthinking it. I’ll probably just cut way back in January rather than go fully dry and see how that feels.

Didn't plan on it, but been battling covid for over a week now and having a beer isn't likely in my future anytime soon.

I bought a six pack of Athletic and had another Athletic draft among my real beers yesterday. Does that count?

I didn’t go into January planning to do Dry January, but it kind of worked out that way on its own. I’m finishing up one of the last beers I had on hand — a Victory HopDevil — and after that I’m taking a semi-dry beer sabbatical for a couple of weeks.

I’ve been mindful about not buying anything lately, not out of financial concern, but more because I don’t always feel the need to keep reaching for something just because it’s there. This feels like a good reset.

If I do decide to have a drink here or there, that’s fine — maybe a small pour of amaro or a bit of Maker’s Mark — but otherwise I’m happy to take a little time away from beer until I’m really in the mood for something special again. Maybe a pint or two out at Dock Street when the moment’s right.

We are doing some role reversal! Makers Mark is my “daily drinker” whisky.

But I was at a friends house and he offered me a Negroni….never had one, so had to accept!

And then had a second for quality control purposes….

I think it hits the intent since I can assure you when only having the occasional Athletic when I've taken weeks off in the past it's not much different of an experience body-wise than going full dry.

I don't really even do that for this month since I'm pairing it with dieting and weight loss more often than not, and while not high in calories, I don't find the beer-like benefit enough to offset the additional added calories. Don't ask me how hard I am hitting the diet soda though...

Love diet soda. Also good for Dry January, and no calories!

Made it through Dry January for all of about 42 hours, counting from when I finished up on NYE. Ah well.

January is dry like the other months, but hoping it could be "wet" with NA beers.

This is another reason for me to do it. Palate reset. I'm sure my liver is excited about it, too. Just haven't been really looking forward to drinking anything as of late and when you're drinking world class examples of beer styles, that's decidedly NOT a good look.

Every try a Boulevardier? If you like whisk(e)y and Negronis, you'll probably be hooked. I know I am!

Well said. When you’re regularly drinking truly top-tier examples, it does get harder for the palate to light up the way it should — so a reset makes total sense (and yeah, I’m sure the liver appreciates it too). One thing I’ve learned over the years here is that it’s okay to actually acknowledge that out loud instead of just giving the silent nod… sometimes stepping back a bit is exactly what brings the enjoyment back when you return.

Bambiere, I’ve had Negroni moments before and I can already see why the Boulevardier would be the natural next step if you’re into whisk(e)y. I’m not building out a whole bar right now, but I’m filing that one away for when the moment’s right.
