Austin’s beer scene is better than San Antonio’s. There’s plenty of good Austin breweries. Maybe it’s not as good as other beer cities. But they do have some good beers. It’s a college city so plenty of spots to find. Jester king is just outside of Austin. I need to get back for another visit soon. Our last visit was too short. BBQ was amazing there!

Depending on the styles of beer you prefer. After having lived both in Southern CA and Texas (for 4 years), I can say that if you prefer IPA’s, then yes, Texas does kinda suck overall. There are a number of TX breweries that make solid lagers, but still not what you can get here in SoCal.
Stone has Old Guardian cans and is tapping several vintages throughout the month including 2013 and 2007 at Liberty Station .
What’s most amazing about them is in the most Texas thing ever it’s a 10 minute uber ride to the airport across the street.

I thought about it when I last checked and vip sounded tempting but the trip alone plus food and additional drinks will be close to 200. It's been a while since I last attended which was their log cabin fest some time ago.
RIP Lightning, last service this Friday. I was always a fan but it definitely was mostly held up by a tight set of loyal followers and never had a large following.
I realize Rainier beer is not high quality [although how many other beers have had a movie made about them?: https://www.rainierbeermovie.com/] but my Seattle born son is now in San Diego and would love to drink some to toast the Seahawks in the superbowl...is there anywhere?!! cheers

Im visiting San Diego in mid March. going to March Madness games at San Diego State. but will have brewery touring time as well on off days from tourney. I will definitely hit Pure Project as I really liked them on my last visit. My college buddy who I m staying with wants to take me to Seek and Barley and Sword since they are close to each other. If you had a top 3 spots to hit what would they be? Im not into hazies, I like bigger ABVs, imp stouts and barleywines, but also really appreciate a well made kolsch. Im excited about casks at Barley and Sword TBH. Appreciate any tips and pointers for us to hit up.
