    Khaddyshack
    6..8% American IPA by CLAG

Poured from pint can, the body is a clear light gold. White head with light lacing.

Aroma is very hoppy. Full of pineapple, grapefruit and citrus. A bit danky and a wee bit of mosaic kitty.

Taste follows nose and adds a bit of balancing malt. A crisp bitterness rises but is not harsh. Things dry up upon finish with a bit of dank at the end.

Mouthfeel is good: medium. Carbonation strong but not too much.

Good bitter IPA that's clean and simple. Nothing wrong with that.

A new to me IPA tonight, arrived in yesterday’s Tavour box - Timber Ales’ Forager’s Dusk Dreaming, a collab with Fidens Brewing, DH with Citra, Motueka and Nelson:

Hazy, pale gold pour; tight white head with a few rocks; very good Retention; heavy ring; bands of sticky lacing. Lemon peel; slightly dank nose from Nelson. Lemon/lime; orange; some white grape must. Medium body; moderate minus carbonation; no astringency. Overall, a tasty hazy with no burn or dryness, thankfully.

    4.5 | 4.5 | 4.5 | 4.25 | 4.5
    Score: 4.48 rDev +7.4%

A really tasty, easy drinking hazy that suffers not from some of the pitfalls of many hazies. I’d drink again, and can’t wait to share with my friends. Cheers!

2023 Surly Cold Smoked Cherry Darkness, 12.0% ABV; 4.1 overall

Pours a thick chestnut/mahogany with a pinky of tan head. Viscous, trace amounts of head retention & lacing

S: Rich barrel notes, dark fruit ( figs & cherries ), fades a bit once warm

T: Dark chocolate, cherries, figs, leafy hops, some barrel booze & dryness up front. Faint smokey notes, sweet cherry, dark chocolate, pipe tobacco, figs & a little booziness, a little cola as this beer warms up. Finishes with dark chocolate, boozy cherries & a bit of barrel

MF: Chewy, gently carbonated, pretty darn warming. Carbonation picks up a little once warmed up

I like the cherry as an add, but wanted more flavor across the board, higher hopes for this one

Cross posted this inthe Imperial Stout thread. But figured its a new beer to me so here we are! This one is HellBent Brewing out of Seattle , WA and their Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout.10.9% ABV. Sent to me in a trade with @zdraco Thank you good sir!

    onto my review:

Sampling a 16 oz can. Date stamp appears to be 12/18 /23, but could be 25. Should be fine either way. Vintage could be determined by ABV on the can of 10.9%. Beer was received in part of a trade recently.
The beer pours a black coffee color with no light passing through my glass. A creamy tan head foams up about 1.5cm and remains as a sturdy surface covering throughout the sampling. This foam creates dense lattice when I take a sip each time.
Aroma on this beer is some roasted malt and dark chocolate mixing with hints of sweeter bourbon. Not really boozy or fusol and no hop character shows on the nose of this dark beer.
First sip reveals a medium body with very fine and tingly carbonation. texture is smooth with a little coating on my palate after each sip.
Flavor is roasted malt and some charred barrel character, this rolls to a little dark chocolate and some coffee note, which isnt on the label. Sweeter bourbon hits briefly and hints of peppery booze come through on the finish. I never get any hop character on this beer. Pretty straight forward BBA imperial stout, well executed and some balancing flavors with good stout character blending with barrel features. Im enjoying this one.
    4.24 in the BA DB

One more for the Weekend-- Poise And Rationality IPA from Roses by the Stairs in Arizona.

Pleasant aroma of apricot and pine. Lively and zippy on the tongue. Just slightly sweet with some malt flavor. Quite fruity and the finish is a little woody and bitter. Flavors of grilled peach, citrus rind, and lemon. Overall this is a highly drinkable hoppy brew with plenty of flavor but moderate bitterness. Distinctly in the West Coast vein.

This is the first beer I've ever had from Revolution, and it's my last New Beer of the weekend.

    Revolution Café Deth

    Look:
Light-destroying black body with a fluffy head of fawn colored foam. Strong backlighting from my phone flashlight reveals no details in these inky depths. The edges grudgingly allow that the beer is brown-black with burnt orange highlights.

    Smell:
The nose is more milk and dark chocolate than coffee, although more coffee comes through as the beer warms. Plenty of bourbon in there too, along with dark chocolate-covered cherries, wet earth, caramel, vanilla, and alcohol.

    Taste:
The flavor starts off brown sugar sweet, with a few dark chocolate sprinkles for interest. Fortunately, it gets more interesting right after that. There's coffee, with bright and somewhat fruity notes above a nice roasty base. There's dark chocolate, toffee, vanilla, a whiff of smoke, and a trace of dark red chile powder. There are cherries, a bit of raisin, and a few fragments of dates. And there is bourbon.

    Feel:
The body is medium-full with a plush texture and appealing carbonation. There's some alcohol warmth but less than you might expect from a beer that's nearly 15%.

    Overall:
Cafe Deth is a tasty barrel-aged coffee imperial stout with marvelous texture, good depth of flavor, and a satisfying amount of bourbon barrel character. Unfortunately, all of these attributes are not quite enough to distract from the immense sweetness. It is a good BA coffee stout but not a great one.
