Skydance Brewing's Skoden batch 14, 9.0% ABV with Superdelic & Nectaron Hops

Pours a very hazy gold with 2+ fingers of fluffy pearl colored head. Very good head retention & even better lacing

S: Citrus, tropical fruit, some catty notes once warmer

T: Tangerine, peaches, guava & mango up front, a little pomelo as well up front. Peaches, pomelo, white grapes, a bit of dryness along with passion fruit & papaya & a little grapefruit pit as this beer warms up. Finishes a little dry with pineapple, nectarine & oranges

MF: Medium body, creamy carbonation, nice balance, slight acidity

Great drinkability, ABV is well hidden

Shoveling Rain from Ruse Brewing in Portland. A straight up Russian Imperial Stout. 10.5% ABV. Looks like @Whyteboar had one of these on Friday.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a nice black with a solid 2 inches of light brown head. Good retention. The nose is really nice. Dark roasted malts, molasses, coffee, tar, and some charred wood.

The taste is lovely. Follows the nose. Super roasty. Oak, burnt toffee, coffee grounds, super dark chocolate, slight tobacco note, and burnt wood the morning after a nice fire.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a bitter roasted malt aftertaste. Lovely and perfect for the style.

So, if I had realized this one was a Baltic Porter, I’d have had it last night during the Baltic Porter tasting weekend. But I saw that little fact to late.

    From 2023
The pour is strong coffee black with a very short beige head that left no lacing. For a 3 year old beer, not bad.
The taste is chocolate and coffee, figs and a little bourbon. Plenty of flavor.
The feel is thinner than I expected, but for a lager, about right I think.
OA, wish I had drank this much sooner, not sure I got the whole experience.

It’s been a great weekend, thanks everyone for keeping me company.
    Cheers!

Enjoying the long weekend gives me one more chance of sharing a beer with y'all. This is Brew Gentlemen in Braddock, PA and their White Sky wheat beer with chai spices. 5.4% brew that I received as part of a Christmas exchange with my brothers.

    onto my review:

Sampling a 12 fl oz can poured into a 0.5L mug at cellar temp. Date Stamp is 2/06/2024...... whoa! picked up at a beer store in PA around Christmas. So definitely old on the shelf. will see where this goes.
The beer pours a fairly hazy golden color with large fluffy bleached white head of 3 CM. This foam sticks around as a sturdy surface covering throughout the sampling. I also get dense lattice when I swirl the beer or take a sip.
Aroma is a little bit of vanilla and some nutmeg or other spice on the sweeter side. Its kinda mild on the nose. I do get a little biscuity malt too, no hop character and no hint of the ABV, which is low.
First sip reveals a medium to lighter body with very fine and prickly carbonation. Very smooth texture and the beer drinks very fast.
Flavor is similar to the nose with some light malt notes and then a vanilla hit and again some nutmeg that rolls through the finish. Never any hop character on this one. Its an easy drinking beer, that may have had more spice note when the beer was fresh. Not normally something I would grab, but its decent for what it is.
    3.99 in the BA DB

Prairie Midnight Temptation Stout with Cocoa Nibs, Vanilla & Artificial Chocolate Syrup, 5.5% ABV; 3.73 overall

Pours a ruddy chestnut with all sorts of floaties & dregs, ugly beer. Fast falling mocha colored head. Zero head retention & lacing, kind of clears up. Plenty of flotsam on the upper side of the glass

S: Tons of coffee, cocoa, lovely nose

T: Coffee, cocoa, vanilla, a little roastyness & dryness up front. More cocoa, some vanilla & coffee as this beer warms up. Finishes a little dry with, coffee & chocolate syrup

    MF: Medium body, slight carbonation

Drinkable, but not enough depth of flavor. Prairie does a great job with their beefed-up Pastry Stouts, this just seems like a training wheel offering

A favorite in our house, but I agree it seems a little thin and in my opinion it doesn't age well.

Edit this became very gritty & sludgy the last ounce or so, knocked it down to a 3.63 overall

Prairie Bucket Hat German Style Pilsner, 5.0% ABV; 4.28 overall

Pours an ever so slightly chill hazed gold with a thumb pearl colored head. Never completely drops, bright, very good hear retention & lacing

S: Grassy, grainy, floral & perfumy hops; great nose

T: Follows the nose some spay notes lemons & bready sweetness upfront. Some sweet graininess, a little lemon & grassyness, plus dryness as this beer warms up. Finishes with grassy bitterness, some sweet grain notes, lemon/lime & dryness

MF: Medium body, delicate carbonation, nice balance, a little gritty/grainy

Well put together Pils, easy to drink
