Ah'm jest gonna have me a couple brews, and y'all can wake me up when you get to that million mark. -- R. Van Winkle
There may be a simple routine that could check for identical matches, which would reduce the number of manual corrections required by the Mod Team. Just a thought. I really know very little about coding, so this idea may be more difficult than I suspect. BTW, @Todd, since you are already planning to clone yourself… Maybe some sort of AI add-on can do the verification. I recognize that folks may be entering variations on a specific beer’s name.
I've seen AI provide an answer, and then contradict it in the same paragraph. On numerous occasions, I've seen it completely mis-interpret detailed requests. Other times, it's supplied some insightful answers. You really have to take AI with a grain of salt at this point.
Yeah, I'm one of those guys. What can I say? For me it's an easier workflow to format a pic than it is to write a review. What's that? I don't have to write a full review, I can just contribute out a 5-number rating? *looks away, clearly embarrassed* Um. Turns out that leaving a rating without a review is something I didn't even think about doing until recently. Like, real recently. Within the past 6 months recently...
I've started to wonder what the averages are. If we were combine all the beers on the site, what's the average ABV? The average style? The average number of reviews? The average number of beers a brewery has? The average number of breweries per state? Things like that.
Whoaaa baby! Why am I hearing about a half-dozen cans of worms being opened up? Not disagreeing but the amount of work/database crunching & etc. besides...now that I thunk about it....jest for curiosities sake.....y'know... averages & all.....but my glass is empty & I need another beer to fully contemplate the questions.....
I'm not asking for it, nor expecting it to be done, just random thoughts that bounce through my head as I'm hunting and adding beers.
Doin' some mathin'. If we add 200 beers a day x 7 days a week, that's 1400. 1400 x 52 weeks = 72,800. We need over 200,000 more beers, so, at our current (unofficial) pace, we've got about 3 more years to get there. Stay with the program everyone!
Most of my locals use Untappd for their tap list. I agree it’s a little annoying, but it’s very common.
Interesting! Throw color (SRM) in there, too. What do you think the "average" beer on BA would work out to be? I'm thinking a 6.5-7.0% AVB brown ale, 16-20 SRM, lightly hopped and rested briefly on raisins and dried cranberries in a saison barrel for light tartness, funk, and notes of dark fruit. @JackHorzempa - If you decide to brew this, I will drive halfway across the country to get some.
