Last night's Library Tasting menu was roughly half Silent Barrels, including a couple as bonus to-go options. Also back to the smaller format of 50 people. Library Ch. 1 and DB Anabasis 10yr were the guaranteed bottles. Very solid night.
Good to meet you and your buddy! You guys are a hoot. I'm always envious of y'all that live in Side Project's backyard. And St Louis grows on me with every visit. I had a great time as well. I haven't gotten to try many Silent Barrels, so I enjoyed that. It was cool to contrast those against all the blended beers, and definitely changed my perspective on that dichotomy. Would love to see more themed nights for the Library Tastings in the future — the "double barrel" night was the first one I got to go to, and whoa boy was that a doozie. This is probably too big of a turn-off (to too many people) to be a realistic wish, but if they did a Library Tasting that was, like .... 8~9 malty brews and 3~4 heavy-hitter saisons from the Vault (instead of just 12 straight dark beers) I would be ALL over that. Having the tubs of "palate cleanser" beers is a nice touch in the current setup — but getting to play some of the best old Fermier's, Tête's, La Ruches etc. off the best stouts and barleywines ... that sounds like heaven to me.
Is this before or after the renewal date for the next year of LC? Hoping to sneak in a few more big bottles before the end
Anabasis available unbundled to the public. Pretty nice. What's the last big malty beer that was available from SP with no strings attached like this?
For those old school SP fans (and I realize they come a lot more old school than I), remember BBT 2017 when that bottle was $40 and BA CSV was $35. Both 750s. I’d take 375s of each, non-nitro please.
Yeah I was surprised to see this. I know the banana/cinnamon adjuncts are, at best, polarizing (which I'm sure is why they're sitting on the shelves there). But I enjoy the bananas foster combo quite a bit on that one. And this one definitely does NOT count for that metric. But I popped into TWCP on my way outta town (Clayton location) based on that tip from the 2025 thread and, sure enough, With Tarpey was sitting there unbundled:
The Blend packages are available via TWCP. That’s insane to me. Haven’t tried OF v23 but the Blend was amazing. Legit BA stout collab.
