Yeah, Barriehaus in Tampa makes some great lagers and is my favorite brewery in Tampa. I wish my son still lived there so I would be in Tampa more often
Hey folks, it's that time again and I'm going to be heading back down to the treasure coast. If there are any new or improved breweries, taprooms, beer stores, etc., preferably in between melbourne and jupiter, let me know! The only rec I've gotten so far this year is Bearded Brothers in ft. pierce, a taproom which is apparently new this year. i see there's still little to no movement on hogan yards... thanks in advance!
I’ll be in Boynton next week, hoping to find a decent bottle shop and maybe a bar to visit. Brass Tap looks good, but the menu is hazy heavy. Any recs? Thanks in advance and ho ho ho, etc.
Pretty slim pickings, I’m afraid. Total Wine or Whole Foods for bottles/cans, but check carefully for freshness, especially at the former. I’ve given up on Brass Tap as their line cleaning seems questionable (or at least taste before ordering). Copperpoint in Boynton isn’t bad for a brewery visit. Civil Society in WPB is my usual rec, but also hazy heavy. Or just get some Fresh (hazy, but leaning a bit toward west coast) at Whole Foods.
My Mother-in-law lives in Delray Beach, the next town south of Boynton. Give Beer Trade Company a look. It's been a while since I've been there. My wife and I always have fun, but maybe that's due to the company I'm with. We've also enjoyed Barrel of Monks. Their permanent food truck is pretty good.
from my last trip to that area, i spent most of my beer drinking time at DAS, also really liked the pizza from Ah-Beetz in Delray Beach. blue anchor is in the DEFINITELY AVOID category, while civil society and mathews brewing were just fine nothing special.
Whole Foods was pretty blah. Most of the local stuff was pretty ancient. I grabbed a 6er of the Sierra Celebration, which has been fine enough while I chill in the driveway in the afternoon (why does everyone in my family insist on getting cats?). I’m chilling at Copperpoint right now, and most beers I tried were at least pretty good. Everflow is great… praise the lord that there are clear IPAs out there and that they’re occasionally this delicious. This place (and their deck) will probably be a regular visit whenever I’m down here to see the parents.
Hello friends! Heading back down to Vero Beach in a couple of weeks. Anything new or newly worth checking out nearby or within, say, 50-75 miles? Anyone know when Hogan Yards is opening? Some have said January. Thanks! -J
Cocoa Beach Brewing has reopened, but they're nothing to write home about. Coasters in Melbourne is having their Belgian beer month in February. They always have lots of good Belgian beer on tap if that's your thing.
If you check their FB page next week they will post the tap list. They then update it periodically during the month. They also have Belgian dishes throughout the month. Their food is quite good.
Have you now been? I am headed to Miami in March and wondering what breweries are worth checking out. I see the Miami breweries with the highest beer rating average here on BA are Spanish Marie, Unseen Creatures, and Lincolns Beard
Lincoln’s Beard is decent and is walking distance to Unseen. Unseen is definitely worth visiting. Miami beer scene has been pretty hard hit over the years but I’d say Unseen and Tripping animals are the two better ones left.
Does Unseen have a taproom at the brewery? The BA Places database has them listed as only a production brewery. Their website lists hours, but doesnt specifically mention a taproom.
They do have a taproom. It’s a cool little space. Admittedly I haven’t been in a few years though but I enjoyed it last time I was there. They generally had a nice mix of styles also.
