I finished reading that book in early January. It's really interesting but a bit of a slog at times. McCullough is such a good writer!

9/23/2019 Founders CBS. Still wonderfully rich on milk chocolate fudge, maple, and coffee. Perfect barrel balance and complexity. Mild barrel booze of 11.3%. Lingering drying barrel tannins and bitter coffee against sweetness. Still have a few left I think.

Tree House "Shifty" pale ale, I wasn't expecting much but then again it is from Tree House, it's a really good, easy drinker.

 

My son, wife and I have moved ahead to Tree House's Half Truth. WOW what a great beer! I wish this were a bomber.

 

Howdy-doo WBAYDN gang! Today, appropriately Thirsty Thursday, is my 17th anniversary here on BA. And it happens to coincide with my 6,000th beer review … for which I am having a Fremont Brew 6,000 barleywine. The stars are aligned! The music of the spheres!

Middle Neck clams and a beer (six pack) gifted by son-in-law.

 

Had surgery Tuesday (actually both Monday and Tuesday) for a melanoma skin cancer. Prognosis is good. Daughter removed the compression bandage today. The other bandage remains on until next Tuesday. Stitches out the following Tuesday. I have had my fair share of stitches but it took them one hour to stitch me up on Tuesday.

Anyway, was in the mood for clams and a few beers.

 

I think I know who wears the pants in the family! Been there.

Another PA brew. Troegs Perpetual. I was told this is the best selling IPA in PA by staff at the brewery. That was after I pointed to it on the menu and asked, "This Perpetual, is this one any good?" I really amuse myself sometimes. Cheers!
