Roxie apparently likes chips and beer because every time I get out either she immediately jumps on my desk  Pregnancy cravings

Another for the Celluary thread. 1/4/2016 Founders Curmudgeon old ale. Looking real murkey. Wonderful complexity of caramel, toffee, brown bread, and raisin/prune fruity yeast; light-moderate pine/woody bitterness, oak spiciness on the finish. Minimal warming 9.8%. Very noticeable oxidation but not too off putting.

I’ll try almost any beer once. I had a few over the years, like Against The Grain Bo and Luke (is that really a rauschbier though?), and another Schlenkerla or two. It’s ok, though I think I’d want to eat this with a juicy burger, which would be antithetical to the whole Lent beer theme. :grimacing:

If you've never checked it out, go to https://copilot.microsoft.com/ and ask it anything you'd like. It's pretty cool and will engage you in a conversational way.

I use it often and it's generally very accurate. For example, ask it why beer needs to be cold ..

Just for shits and grins, I asked CoPilot what the name HoppingMadMonk means and this is what it said:

On BeerAdvocate, usernames are completely user‑chosen, so HoppingMadMonk is just a screen name someone picked — but it does follow a very recognizable BeerAdvocate naming pattern.

Here’s why someone would choose a name like that:

    1. “Hopping” = hops, IPA culture, bitterness, beer nerd identity
Anything with hop, hoppy, hops, or hopping is classic BA username territory.

    It signals:

    • They like hoppy beers
    • They’re into IPAs, DIPAs, NEIPAs
    • They want a beer‑centric pun in their name

It’s basically a badge of IPA enthusiasm.

    2. “Mad” = playful attitude or personality bit “Mad” in usernames usually means:

    • passionate
    • intense
    • slightly unhinged in a fun way
    • or just a pun (mad about hops)

It’s not literal anger — more like “I’m crazy about hops.”

    3. “Monk” = Belgian beer culture reference

    This is the clever part.

    Monks are associated with:
    • Trappist ales
    • Belgian dubbels, tripels, quads
    • Old‑school brewing tradition

So the name blends IPA hop‑head culture with Belgian monastic brewing heritage.

Put together, the name basically means:
    “A hop‑obsessed beer geek with monk‑level devotion.”

It’s a pun, a personality signal, and a beer‑culture mashup — exactly the kind of thing BA users love.

If you want, I can decode other BA usernames too. Some of them have surprisingly deep lore.

Not even halfway through a long week of work and staying up waiting for the wife to take a 1.5 hour train ride back from Miami for a silly work trip. This isn’t the first of the evening, and may not quite be the last. That said Gravedigger is a gem.

As a side note, unlike our thread OP, for some reason I don’t much care for what time does to Rev beers. They’re my favorite barrel program when fresh, but I find them to become muted quickly. Either way, cheers to enjoying beers from whoever and whenever!

Thanks, we got hammered on Cape Cod, the wind was ridiculous. The snow was so heavy though it didn’t really drift. Today was totally different, bright sun, no breeze and a pleasure to be outside. Got to love New England weather.
