They told me that the new promotion for shipping cellar beer with $200+ orders would show up on the website in March. It appears it isn't live on the site yet.
All 2025 beers needed to be shipped by end of Feb. as others mentioned free cellar shipping for 2026 only cellar items will start sometime soon (after 2025 beers have been cleared)
The new Churriosity is up... The description says BA but the label does not... Suspect given the relatively modest ABV.
I'm looking forward to trying BT Extended Cut... But can I ask some awkward questions? Is Jim Beam premium bourbon? I know it's not well-class, but I'm almost positive it gets sold in plastic bottles? Maybe BT has always used JB, but curious it now rates a name drop. Does it matter? Can I tell the difference between BT aged in one spirit brand vs another? I doubt it, but I'm curious if others think they could? Who thinks they can tell the difference of four extra months? I'm surprised it would make a difference.
That’s the description from the 2026 preview. I think it was supposed to be BA but something must have gone wrong. Also note that price is low. I was excited for this maybe more than anything else because I never had the original in cinnamon whiskey barrels. It’s also funny that there was so much controversy when they released churriosity as non BA and they said “whoops we should have called it something different” and then the following year or so released Stay Churrious as the non BA churriosity
I just wish they would ship my February bottles so I can try them, lol. On a serious note, I'm excited for After School Special. It's one of the beers that pushed me to sign up for Reserve this year.
I agree, Jim Beam is definitely not considered premium Bourbon. I was surprised by the name drop as well. I don't think 4 extra months will make a big difference. If anything makes a difference compared to regular Black Tuesday I think it will be exclusive use of Jim Bean barrels.
Beam makes a ton of premium world class bourbon. They do have a bottom shelf product sold in plastic bottles but they also make Bookers, Little Book, Knob Creek 9, 12, 18 & 21, Bakers, and Old Grandad 116. Who knows what brand of Beam they used for BT Extended Cut, I’d like to think it’s some good barrels!
Yes, James Beam has a few premium brands inside of its portfolio, but I'd like to believe that if they used barrels from the likes of Bookers, or Knob Creek that they realize it would bring a better reputation than "Jim Beam" which is generally considered the low /mid tier brand with in the portfolio. I doubt we'll ever know what barrels they used and I'm going to buy a couple bottles either way.
This was my assumption as well... That they would mention the premium label... Unless there's a copyright issue maybe where they can only say Beam for some reason? Like how Kirkland won't say who produces some of their products?
BT Reserve 21 This is drinking excellently! It was always a good release. I like brandy barrel usually, but it can be a little overwhelming sometimes. I like that this is cut with bourbon barrel to balance. It's still very very very boozy of course. But the heat from that booze has finally mellowed out a lot so it's not harsh.
It's very rare here in Texas, but I had 2025 Black Tuesday on draft tonight and it was amazing. Better than the bottle for sure. It wasn't cheap but it was worth it.
Pretty sure some of the Beam premium brands like Booker's don't actually say that on the barrel (i.e. the barrel just says Beam), so if Bruery is just sourcing a bunch of barrels, they might not know specifically what it was used for... That being said, regular Beam isn't exactly top tier... but they do make some older aged versions even under the Beam flagship name (I wanna say Black Label or something like that?) I dunno, maybe Bruery has gotten good at sussing out a good barrel here or there, regardless of where it came from (they have to have some sort of evaluation of the barrels coming in). In any case, I love BT, so throwing some extra age with a specific expression makes me excited, though I can't imagine that the difference will be huge. Still looking forward to it! (Still haven't shipped anything yet this year, was hoping for a blowout month where I could get some free shipping for my cellar, but haven't been able to pull that off thus far... Maybe the anny month will work)
Some cellar stuff dropped today that's tempting me. What's everyone's opinion of: Honey & Dunn Apis Grand Cru?
I thought it was good, but I didn't love it. Very bold mead flavor. Very sweet, though in some ways that complements the dry Dunn base.
