A trip to Bailson Brewing this afternoon...

Wiggins Special in the glass. A nice version of a Black IPA, review over at the NBW thread.

The Dean Double IPA, yeah this is a classic version of the style that is getting harder to find now. Really good.

One more from Baileson Brewing this afternoon...

Parliament Pale Ale, and is a good no frills version of an American Pale Ale.

More wandering around lead me to EZ Lounge...I always want to like them more than I really do...but they are just OK for a quick visit every once in a while. Crap tap list, which wouldn't be the worst thing ever if it was just like Coors Banquet or something. but its crap pseudo "craft" beers...so its a Ranch Water and tacos instead.

Going to Total Wine to buy beer is like going on an archaeological expedition. I usually don’t shop there, but a lot of places lack good options for imports and craft.

I consider myself to be pretty fortunate, I usually have decent options at the grocery stores around here.

Tour Bus DDH Hazy IPA, BA! Man, just love this Brewers team. Granted it was against the White Sox (no disrespect @ChicagoJ ), but to scrape together a comeback win with today’s makeshift lineup was impressive. Pat Murphy continues to get the mojo working. Cheers, BA! :beers:

From what I can tell, I think they have a nest in one of my front bushes. There's a pair of them and I've seen them flying in and out of the bush. Cheers!

It FINALLY came...what am I talking about...well the John Scofield and Dave Holland duet album of course...Memories of Home. Two of my all time favorite musicians, and I got to see just these two in a duet concert last September...at the Elnnora Guitar Festival in my home town of Champaign/Urbana. This album was announced shortly after, but was only available in Germany as its an ECM release...finally one of the record stores I go to got this imported ha.

Anyway...picture from my concert way back in September.

I also found a couple more Dave Holland albums...that are basically out of print now...so sure why not...you can never have too many Dave Holland albums, especially on ECM ha (both printed in "West Germany" ha).

    Anyway...ORVAL in the glass.

    1) Other Half Bagel and Schmear (7.5% canned 1/5/26): A NEIPA from NY with Citra, El Dorado, Nelson for flavors of citrus, tangerine, some pineapple and melon.
    versus
    stonefruit.
    2) Other Half Snow Shovel Stuntz (8.2% canned 2//25/2026): A NEIPA from NY with Citra, Cashmere, Columbus, Luminosa for flavors of orange, tangerine, wildflower, pineapple, stonefruit. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Happy Sunday BeerAdvocates. Other Half NEIPA battle. First is Bagel & Schmear. Had high hopes for this but citrus, tangerine, and kind of falls off the end without any complexity. Next is Snow Shovel Stuntz. Had lower hopes for this but it comes through far better. Orange, tangerine plus some earthy stonefruit and faint floral and pine bite. Creamy, smooth, complex. Excellent. I gave this a 4.04+ rating.
Winner: Other Half Snow Shovel Stuntz
