Got the last four pack of Heady at One Stop in Haverhill. They’re always very cool and when I checked he said it’s yours and I’m throwing it aside. I was on 495 so it worked out perfect. The drop had lasted on shelves for almost a full 2 days, which is shocking. About double sunshine. It is absolutely fantastic and still a top 20 beers for me. There is nothing wrong with Sip. But it truly is missing the enormous hop saturation and mouth coating orange note I get with DS. I really don't think Sip stands up to Double. I honestly hope it never does so Double remains a treat. I think their appearance is a descriptor what to expect. As odd as that sounds. Double sunshine is a deeper and more robust slightly rich orange color with a massive off white head. It explodes with dank orange notes. Sip is a pale yellow to deep yellow color with more pronounced clarity and effervescent look with thick white head. It also is quite pungent but with your more typical blend of east and west coast bitter notes along with tropical fruit. The bitterness immediately drives the Delorian.
Heady drop @ Bradfords in Plymouth, ~ 3 cases @ $17.99, no Focal. I just came from Stowe, so only mild excitement.
Also, there will never be anything like the heady can hunt days. I was never a truck chaser. But I knew the spots to check and later the honed in heady finder helped. But that was a lot of fun. And I’ll miss finding more and more places with cans to have onsite. Or when you went to the mountain to ride and saw someone with one. Then you’d look around you and start seeing more. Like something out of a slow-mo movie scene. Meh, I miss that time. Troon and the rest are just about speed to order or show up in one spot. The lawsons and Alchemist drops in your own state and town just don’t hit the same.
Any recent sightings in MA? BAs in CA & VA are taunting me with their Heady pics, & I really don't want to make another long haul run.
I’m going to preface this by saying that I love heady, it for sure was a junction in my exploration of craft beer prior to the cannery. And it’s in the top 20 for me all time. That list would be diverse and include things some might not expect. But it’s unmistakable as one of the best. I absolutely feel Sean never created a But it’s perplexing to me that this beer still garners so much hype and desire. I do understand that there are still people coming into craft beer and it’s sort of the CBGB or Rathskellar of beer. It’s something everyone heard about and wants to try. Given it’s still actually around, as opposed to the former mentioned. I just expected in 2026, and a decade of truly turbid and hazy IPA from 1929373992928 breweries, heady would become a relic of the past. But, I guess there never has truly been a beer even remotely like it. To many, it could border on clear beer as well. It’s also interesting that none of the other beers ever truly caught on. I know to us they did. But I’m telling you. Ask any casual person that mentions heady, to name another Alchemist beer. It’s not household to do so. Which is totally fine. John and Jen truly created something for the books that will possibly be talked about forever.
I got a 4-pack of heady and focal in Providence last Saturday, seemed to hit a few stores so I imagine it’s available in MA also. Was canned March 3rd.
My local in Hull got a drop today. Not a ton as the beer guy said two cases Heady and one Focal. 3/16 canning on the Heady. I’d check at Bradford”s or somewhere down your way as I can’t imagine they were the only one
