What beer are you drinking now? #4919

1) Mortalis Persephone (8.0% canned 12/28/25): A NEIPA from NY with Citra and Krush for flavors of peach, citrus, guava, pine, grapefruit
versus
2) Mortalis Ares Nelson (8.0% canned 2/3/26): A NEIPA from NY with Citra, Mosaic, Nelson for flavors of orange, tropical grape, blueberries, melon, and mango. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Mortalis IPA Battle. First is Persephone. Citra and Krush combo. Surprisingly impressive combo here. Great guava, with some floral pine to balance the tropical stonefruit notes. It's past its three month shelf life but still drinking amazing. Fitting for the goddess of Spring.
Next is Ares Nelson. Citra, Mosaic, Nelson trio. This is more tropical and sweet. The Mosaic berries and Nelson grape go together wonderfully here. Also getting some age and a little sweeter. Both are two of my favorite IPAs from Mortalis. The flavors of Ares Nelson here are better, but the mouthfeel of Persephone is better. Arguably, I think flavor beats out mouthfeel.
Winner: Mortalis Ares Nelson

 

Why, yes, I'll have another.

 

Mrs. CC (working a jigsaw) and i enjoyed a nice hike in Brevard NC earlier today and now back and enjoying a lovely DIPA from Hidden River courtesy of @jzeilinger- many thanks J! I initially got a ton of peach to go along with citrus. Nicely hopped, well done Hidden River!

Moving along to a Little Willow Mr. Brown brown ale. I wasn't a big fan of the Foam Name Less.

 

Man, I haven’t had a Stroh’s in forever. But I guess I was a beer snob even back in 1983 at art school in Detroit. Stroh’s Signature was where it was at. Just look at that gold foil!

 

Getting into a Springfest with round 2 - love the brightness of this brew. Thanks for the D-Backs/Mets update @beerloserLI as i hold out hope the D-Backs can maybe make a little noise in the NL West - Marathon is on, we'll see in early October where they are at.

More Coltrane at 100 Celebrations...oh yeah. Both Directions at Once: The Lost Album...I mean its not really a "lost album" that would be something like First Meditations For Quartet or Sun Ship, as those were entire albums recorded and never released until after he passed away. These are just a bunch of practices and false starts for some songs, and other "untitled" songs...some of the playing is really good but not really a planned album in any sense.

 

Good afternoon all. Drinking a Kona Big Wave here on this 78 degree Wednesday. Not going to be this warm again for a while. Some rain and clouds are supposed to come through in few days.

I was quoting you, Larry, to ask about this beer as I have been seeing quite a bit of Foam around of late. Then I saw you later post with your nice looking brown from Little Willow and your thoughts on that Foam beer pretty well match up with my experiences with them in the past
