Good times in Suwannee County, FL

 

I’m seeing a lot of Racer 5s in the virtual bar lately, I notice because it is one of my all time favorite beers, unfortunately they don’t seem to distribute to Virginia any more…

ps-Last time I had one was in San Francisco a year ago, they don’t date and the beers were past their due date, still drank them as I had Pliny to clear my palate.

 

Drinking a Piwo Grodziskie style from Tree House now called Wycinanki with 4% abv, brewed with smoked wheat malt and Polish Lubelski hops. Crisp, refreshing and light with notes of pale mild wheat malt, lemony citrus and smoked meaty ham and bacon flavors. Real interesting beer and glad I got to try this style thanks to these guys. Cheers all!

Made a rigatoni pasta alla vodka sauce with sweet Italian sausage meat and extra seasonings

 

If it is any consolation to you brother Racer 5 used to be a top 5 (ha) rotational IPA for me. Today it is a challenge to even find fresh here in SoCal and I contest it is not the same beer as years of yore as well. That said this Tall Boy is date stamped and 4 months old however tasting exceptionally well all things considered. Cheers

 

Free Will Brewing's Ralphius - A. Smith Bowman Bourbon Barrel variant. Sourced in Pennsyltucky late last summer at Shangy's the biggest baddest beer store i ever stepped foot in @jzeilinger. This is a world class example of a BBA IRS, so good!

1) Benediktiner Hell (5.0%): A German Helles with flavors of pale malts, yeast, bread.
versus
2) Weihenstephaner Festbier (5.8%): A German Festbier with flavors of pale malt, smooth honey, cereal, pale Munich malts. Smooth. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Benediktiner Helles is light, bready, and smooth. This is growing on me.
Next Weihenstephaner Festbier. More floral, honey, and sweet. More flavor overall. This is getting a bit light-struck being bottled, but I still think it's a better beer.
Winner: Weihenstephaner Festbier
