Dropped into The Tap in Haverhill on Friday. I still love this place. (And not only because the power outage shut down their computers and I got free beer!) Just a marvelous old building, friendly folks, and a history of great New England brewers. And they seem to be bucking the trendy stuff. We got to see the US hockey team (who'd go on to beat Canada and win the Gold) get up 2-0 before the power failure.
Enjoyed our first visit to Buttonwoods yesterday as we walked, dined, and drank our way around the Federal Hill/Broadway area (Providence Oyster Bar, Loma, The Patio). Nice open space indoors and outdoors with a deep and vaired beer list. Tried the BA Rye Saison, Amber Lager, Pale Ale, IPA, and Robust Porter. Also a separate food vendor in the same facility (Screaming Unicorn Kitchen) that was busy pumping out food and snacks all afternoon.
Is Silvaticus's Oblivion the most underrated beer around? I've had it countless times, but every time I have it, it blows me away and I always regret not getting more. Damn those limiting $17 four packs. I'd buy it in 12 packs, no doubt.
Just went up last weekend. Had a draft and took a four pack home. In my opinion it’s the best Schwarz around, and might be the best dark lager in general. Honestly the whole brewery is underrated.
I don’t think I reported it here but we went to Rivertrail Beer Works in Saranac Lake a few weeks ago - and it was great. Best beer place in Lake Placid area. Good beer selection, great food, nice new big venue
Made a second post-hike trip to Post & Beam in Peterborough, NH this weekend. Really nice spot right in town and all the beers I’ve had were enjoyable. This time I really liked the German pils and doppelbock.
Checked out Daydreaming BrewCo in Derry today. Great little spot. English style ales, great smoked brown on cask. Connected to a restaurant with a fire tap list that sadly wasn’t open yet (2017 Stickee Monkee yes please!). Definitely recommended
Stopped by Upper Pass’ new location in the new north end in Burlington VT. They took over Simple Root’s old space, moving from S. Royalton. ‘anyway, good beer…
Finally got to visit Oakholm Brewing out of Brookfield. It was a very rainy and gloomy day so I wasn't able to take pictures. The place and area is beautiful. Got a Pils and a DIPA and they were very solid. They have their own pizza shop attached to the farm brewery. Only 20 minutes north of Tree House Charlton.
