Side Project-adjacent, but I finally got in on one of the Artifact whiskey releases this morning. The pours I've had from them so far have been very worthwhile, so I'm pumped to try their new release, plus the 12-year rye that I'd missed out on previously.

As a whiskey guy that backed into the world of barrel-aged beers, it's cool that Side Project's Side-Side-Project is releasing the occasional hazmat hooch

(On a more meta note, the BA website/logging in has been squirrelly as hell for me the past few days)

It kicks me out every time I close the browser and I have to re-log in.

I can't log in at all using chrome. It keeps me logged in no problem using Edge.

I had to clear my cache/cookies for the BA site and it's been stable since.

On Android, click the 3 dots, then the ( i ) symbol, and "cookies and site data" and then the trash can icon.

That 12 yr old rye is very good, my favorite of what they have released so far.

Awesome! Yeah that's the one I'm most excited about. 10 to 12ish years is about my sweet spot.

    And 141.9 proof ... whew buddy ⚠☢

It's fantastic and doesn't drink anywhere near It's proof at all. It's a pretty impressive pour. I didn't plan to buy anything this release, but couldn't pass on this once I saw it was up. My other favorite has been Art 1.

I’ve been finding that a bit undrinkable at the moment. The Fact-15 however is one the best whiskeys I’ve had in recent memory.

What driving radius do you think people are will drive to visit a brewery? If the answer is 15 mins, maybe this is perfect. If the answer is 30 mins, which is closer to what I’d expect, then why open another location that close. I understand why the 3 current locations are situated based on heritage, but if you are leasing a spot or breaking new ground, I’d think you’d want a little more distance. I’d assume they don’t need brewing space and this would just be a brewpub. Maybe they got a good deal, who knows. I’m sure they’ve done that research. My ultimate assumption is this cannibalizes customers already going to Maplewood because it’s an easier drive. I’m sure it helps them reach new customers but I’d space it out a bit more. What do I know?

I largely had the same thoughts. Was surprised it was so close. And I'm with you that I'll drive 30 minutes for beer I want. So if I lived in St. Louis and was close to Maplewood, this location would never see me unless I found some other reason to go there.

In my mind, I think this is for sure to add additional brewing capacity, similar to TG. I’m sure Cory envy’s the size and capacity of TG at their site and wants to have conmod and backpack fashion show cans in grocery stores all over the US.

Easy, contract brew through Brew Hub! Boom!!! Quality always stays the same when you do that. Make that money money!

Not really knowing STL well, the few people from STL I know all remark how the Maplewood area is not the greatest. Is the new location in a 'safer' spot? Could be to get more traffic from people who would otherwise avoid a few neighborhoods. I think I'd be more likely to get my significant other's family to St. Charles than Maplewood.

Re drive time: it would make more sense to me that this location is to capture a different set of customers rather than relocating existing customers. SP has a firm hold on Maplewood and offers a little different vibe at each spot. Makes sense to put the other elsewhere, but still close enough for staff to easily flow between.
