I'm seeing lots of ISOs, very few FTs, and even fewer "This is done"s. Anybody successfully set up a pre-trade for these and feel comfortable saying what you traded (telling me privately in a "conversation" perhaps, if not comfortable saying publicly in this thread)?

I got 0 response to my ISO, which I imagine is largely due to people not wanting to set up trades before being certain they can actually get the beers. Also, seems like people may be even more likely to want to feel out the market on this one before trading (except to long-time trading partners, perhaps) due to the huge increase in production on this batch (it's all of a sudden going to be a significantly more available beer than ever before, but there's still a ton of demand -- people may not have a very clear idea of what they can/should trade it for yet).

    Thoughts?

I think once they are in hand you will see more activity. Nobody really knows what kind of madness will ensue at the release. I've been tempted by a few of these, but would feel more comfortable with the bottles in hand. That's my opinion.

That's why I hate pretrades, it's really hard to gauge who is getting how many bottles.

I have a couple hopefully on the way only because I know a buddy/fellow BA will be there with a few friends bright and early Friday (he was there for the B4 release too).

That and we mutually hook each other up. It's all about long time trading partners

most people i know don't like to trade bottles until they have them in hand, given how crazy a lot of releases are these days. not that the requests are helping. " oh, the allotment is six bottles? iso six bottles then. " durrr

So I should be able to land five with no problem.
I'll be generous and ONLY ask for four! :grinning:

It depends on which you offer. If you offer the M you just bought, I'm pretty sure someone will take that.:stuck_out_tongue:

I have something lined up from a newly met West Coast trading partner. I feel like with 12,000 bottles to go around, it would be tough to get shut out on these if you really want them, but who knows...

ya, that's what a lot of people thought with bourbon county vanilla (17k), king henry (12k), bourbon county coffee (17k?), bramble (17k?), cbs (12k?), curmudgeon's better half (12k?)....

    schea. Sending out some kabert.

protip: make trading buddies, then reap the benefits that comes with this. I prob. have a half dozen people I could reach out to to get some beat. this time around. Trade good and good trades will come your way. It's all about who you know.

Understandable, but also how many outlets we're selling all of those across the country? If all those beers were sold in one place at one time, I guarantee they would last longer than a single case in a Chicago bottle shop. A lot tougher to be one of 12 people in your area to get a bottle compared to one of 2000 people going to a release.

edit: When I said getting shut out, I didn't mean traders, I meant people going to the release. The OP questioned people holding back on trading them before they had them.

ya, that's what people at the kbs release thought (315 cases). triple it and you may have enough to satisfy demand, so i guess it could be ok.

i guess what i'm saying is, seeing how difficult everything else is to get lately, there's no reason to expect attendees of this release to be more generous with their own beers. they'll (we'll) use the same excuses.

I don't disagree with what it's going to take to land one, but using the beers you mentioned, how many people got 6 bottles of any one in particular? Probably not too many unless you got lucky. You have to look at that as well. 2000 people can buy 6 bottles, where that couldn't be said for any of those other beers.

OP, I have a few set up, all with the usual pre-trade disclaimers ("I can't know until I get it, but I REALLY ought to get it!"). Funny enough one of them is a pretrade on both sides.

I don't want to take on any more, even though I've seen some tempting offers, because I think this beer is delicious and I want a lot for myself. That might be the issue you're having, if everyone wants to save their allotment because Beat is known to age well then even with 6 bottles per people might not want to give them up.

But I'm sure activity will increase once it's actually in people's hands.

    Silly comparison for multiple reasons
But I agree that 12k won't seem like enough and these will trade with quite good value.

no, i think you misunderstood my point: bottle count is not a good determinant of trade value. also, large bottle counts are starting to be deceptive in " ease of access " arguments. i am guessing we agree on that.

I set up a few pre trades. People hit me up. I knew what I was looking for and made a few deals. But I know for fact ill be there with about four mules when they open. Just about knowing for sure who's going and who they're bringing.
