Will have to give them a try. I visited Juicy once a few years ago and thought they were making good beers from what I sampled. Not sure what didn’t workout for them.
There was a Reddit thread that made the owner sound pretty shady. I don't have any firsthand knowledge, so take that anonymous internet chatter with whatever grain of salt you deem appropriate.
Not squarely a beer question, but beer adjacent: Has anyone tried Chef Tan, the Hunan restaurant next to Norm's in Vienna? I can't say I'd taken much notice of it, but the Washington Post food critic wrote a glowing review of the place, and it's doing pretty well on Yelp too. The WaPo review's mention of "a beer and wine shop" next to the restaurant piqued my curiosity and subsequently brought me here to query.
This news is over a month old but I just now saw it. RAR announced on the planned Salisbury site's Facebook page that the new spot would be known as Chessie's Campus. RAR Brewing will move into the shopping center at 1315 South Salisbury Blvd. that currently houses The Twist Indian Grill, Arlo Scarlett Salon and Crimson Coward, a Nashville chicken restaurant. RAR will move in to the space currently occupied by Voodoo Brewing Co. https://www.delmarvanow.com/story/m...p-to-big-salisbury-business-news/88950334007/
Was reading the early replies. Staying by the national mall in June. Am planning to go to Other Half and ChurchKey. Anything else worth going to? Im using public transit, so will have to huff it to OH from the bus. Thank you!
OH and ChurchKey are the two best spots in town, though OH has clearly lost a step from their heyday. If you're really into Belgian-style beers, Sovereign would be a good addition to the list, but take note that it's going to be a 10-15 minute walk from the nearest Metro station (Foggy Bottom/GWU on the orange/blue/silver lines). If Belgians aren't up your alley, I'd suggest it's not worth the hassle of dealing with Georgetown.
Picked this item out of the latest email from Sapwood Cellars. Found the collab with Toppling Goliath interesting as well as the Belgian Quad. Will probably need a DD if trying both: This Week's Can Release Order for pickup starting today, Megaloceros (13.1% ABV Barleywine Aged 15-months in Buffalo Trace Stagg Bourbon and Laird's Apple Brandy Barrels in Collaboration with Toppling Goliath Brewing Co. and Lua Brewing) and Concrete Forest (10% Belgian Quad)! Both beers are on draft so you can try before you buy! Please pick up all cans and bottles by Sunday 5/10 at 7pm. If you're looking for beer outside of the Taproom check out the Tavour app! They ship to 30 states and regularly pick up our new releases, Megaloceros is on the app right now for pre-order so be sure to grab it while you can!
