Anyone know if Dominion went back to allowing single-can/single bottle purchases? I haven't been there in months, largely due to their resistance to selling singles, but I was thinking about stopping by tomorrow if they've relented. If they're still sticking to the not-so-customer-friendly no-singles policy, I guess Brew Shop will continue to get Dominion's former share of my business.
I have not been there in a few years, so I wouldn’t know. As you stated Arlington Brew shop does, and on both huge drops of Heady Topper, K-1 Beer and Wine did allow single can purchases of Heady Topper. Those two places, plus Magruder’s in DC, mainly for their Treehouse drops, have been my go to for the last few years.
I've moved to closer to Baltimore proper and I gotta say Whitey's Liquors is great, thats all, any other great stores in this area (defined as Baltimore County, North Anne Arundel, Baltimore) also does heady topper ever make it this side of the border, or am i taking a trip to Virginia after a VABA post?
Don't get around as much as I used to, but Whitey's is still a solid choice. There may be a wider selection a little further south at Total Wine however out-of-date items are a real problem so be very careful. Perfect Pour was also a popular spot but my last visit was disappointing and haven't been back. If you are interested in brewery taprooms, Heavy Seas is not far from Whitey's as is Guinness. And a few more up in south Baltimore near the ballparks. Heady Topper? Think you will need to take that Virginia trip.
Don’t despair! The store is a few blocks off I-395 after you cross the 14th bridge in DC, so that’s an hour away at the most. Don’t know if you check Instagram, but K1 Beer and Wine post every new delicacy. Heady Topper drops have been about two months apart, so late June if I had to guess, that is if they get another drop, but based on the owner carrying a case for me to my car (I carried the other case plus two packs of Focal Banger, all of which I carried to the counter, they don’t have shopping carts) and the smile as he waved bye to me tells me he is making a pretty penny, so I’m hopeful there will be future drops! ps-FWIW I did call Sip of Sunshine distro in the area, hopefully (I’m praying here), there is a drop of Russian River Pliny next…
I highly doubt it found its way to Magruder’s via distro. More likely its presence is due to DC's wild west grey market system for alcohol.
Corks and Kegs near me gets Brujos, Fidens and Alchemist on a regular basis. I hadn't heard that TH was in distro.
NH 44 Indian Brewing just opened last week in Herndon, Va. From looking at reviews they may have 3-4 of their beers available. - FB: https://www.facebook.com/nh44.brew - IG: https://www.instagram.com/nh44.brew/ - Website: https://nh44brew.com/ - Taplist: https://nh44brew.com/tap-list - Food Menu: https://nh44brew.com/menu Address 2336 Silver Arrow Way Herndon, VA 20171 About NH 44 (copied from their site) "NH44 takes its name from National Highway 44, one of the longest roads in India, a route that cuts through mountains, plains, and cities, connecting communities that might otherwise never cross paths. That highway has always been more than infrastructure. It's been a thread, pulling people and cultures together across hundreds of miles. We borrowed that idea and brought it to Herndon. What we're building here is a place where Indian culinary tradition and American craft brewing share the same table, not as a concept, but as a genuine expression of who we are and where we come from. The food draws from the tandoor and the grill, from spices grown in soil thousands of miles away, reimagined for the plate in front of you. The beer is brewed in-house, inspired by those same ingredients, the kind of pours you won't find anywhere else. Together, they're meant to start conversations, spark curiosity, and remind you that people who seem different usually aren't, once there's something good to eat and drink between them."
