I hope, and believe, they’ll do better in their new digs.

Stopped by Upper Pass’ new location in the new north end in Burlington VT. They took over Simple Root’s old space, moving from S. Royalton. ‘anyway, good beer…

Anyone know how the roads to HF are currently? Was planning to go there tomorrow at open, but my rental car isn’t exactly the ideal car for the drive if this rain softened things up. Last minute trip and didn’t really pay attention to some smaller details. Thanks!

In Waterbury with Alewife now for a long weekend.

First stop, as we typically make, was at Queen City Brewing (Burlington)... Being that Alewife is NOT an IPA drinker this is heaven for her (me too!)

Maibock, Steinbier, Rauchbier, Hefeweizen, Dunkelweizen and Munich Dunkel all tasted sehr gut! Baltic Porter and Scotch Ale also tasted fine.

After dinner back in Waterbury we stopped into Blackback for nightcaps. Alewife enjoyed Bent Hill Oatis & Tobin Scotch Ale and Drop In Heart of Lothian Scotch. For me it was Kraemer & Kin Black IPA followed by HF Society &Solitude 13. Tasty shtuff!!
They had maybe 10x from HF for those who dig 'em....

    Prost!!

As others have mentioned, the roads are fine this time of year. Mud season ended a while ago. It’s only an issue when the ground thaws at the end of winter. Rain doesn’t have the same impact. Excessive rain can damage dirt roads but we haven’t had that level of rain this year.

If she like the German styles, are you going to Trapp? I was there last weekend.

I think blackback is the best beer bar in Vermont
They’ve been stocked with HF for months

We sometimes hit Trapp but feel QCB has many more options overall, including Scotch Ale and Barleywines....

    Prost!!

Should be fine. I live at the end of much worse roads and even they are very passable.

Day 2 of our stay found us taking a sperm of the moment trip to Hill Farmstead... tried to find 'em 10-15 years ago but no go with no GPS. Piece of cake this time..

Ran into ex-Red Sox pitcher Bill Lee there... cool... Alewife and I started with a couple of Lukr pours of German Helles and Rauchbier. Solid! Then a couple of Shirley Mae porter on nitro. Fantastic!! Then a small pour each of Genealogy followed by some Aaron Cognac aged.... the latter was top shelf! Thoroughly enjoyed the chill vibe there, great staff and tasty biers!

A leisurely ride back found us in Stowe at The Alchemist for a quickie.... Wee Heavy for the Lady and Crusher for me. I prefer that to Heady, fwiw..

Had a tasty dinner at Blackback with some equally tasty Hofbräu Traunstein Maibock....

    Great day!!

Today we took a slow and scenic ride north along the shore of Lake Champlain before turning back south.... Had a quick round at the Kraemer & Kin taproom first. Black IPA for me, Maple Ale for Alewife.... shortly later hit the lovely taproom/pub at Two Heroes. Each a solid Maple Doppelsticke there.

After some lunch we hit Queen City in Burlington again... Gregarious Scotch Ale, Rauchbier and Baltic Porter were top shelf.

Back in Waterbury for tasty food at The Reservoir. Sadly their bier list has lost a lot of punch. Used to be solid+ but it's rather MEH these days.... oh well..

    One more full day tomorrow...

    Prost!
