I am not a Jester King employee, nor have I played one on TV. But as a beer fan in Austin it was noticeable that Jester King bought land surrounding the brewery as Austin started to grow, and started farming it. This gave them land to grow ingredients for some of their whimsical brews, and help protect the propogation of wild yeasts that are key to many of their beers. You can also go do yoga with the babies from their herd of goats they run to keep the brush down and fertilize the farm.

Years ago I got the Cicerone flash cards, taste poster, etc. but always joked that I was waiting for somebody to sponsor me and spring for the then $200 price tag to get my certification.

How EVER, after starting this thread & realizing that I can now easily swing the price tag (& I ain't getting any younger & what else do I enjoy....too much...more than beer?) I'm thinkin' WTF, why am I waiting?

And I don't even care what the price tag is today or if'n it takes me multiple attempts to get certified, I'm gonna DO it!

fiances family has a house in ellenville so know the area somewhat. ideal area of the state when the weather is good. been to both places and really enjoyed them, arrowwood also has some great bourbon/whiskey i enjoyed. was impressed by the amount of really great breweries up there, and some wines were great some not so much. ever been to hill rock distilery out in ancram? grow, floor malt, kilt, ferment, distill, barrel, package everything in house. their stuff is fire. aloha.

I became one of the first 500 Certified Beer Servers simply because an acquaintance emailed me about it, and I was half drunk after coming home from a night out, and figured, "I got 50 bucks." Was an online exam, took it right then, and scored in the upper 90s.
