1) Mortalis Phaethon (8.0% canned 4/6/26): A NEIPA from NY with Citra, Mosaic, Belma, Lupomax for flavors of pineapple, peach, strawberry, cantaloupe
versus
2) Mortalis Strange Philosophies 113 (8.0% canned 4/22/26): A NEIPA from Citra, Mosaic, NZH104 with flavors of floral citrus, grapefruit, vinous grape, tropical melon. (Mismatched the two blind)

Happy Saturday BeerAdvocates, a Mortalis IPA Battle. First is Phaethon, a Greek god of sun. Intense tropical berries and melon flavors. Finishes like sweet grape juice with a balance of zest. Excellent.
Next is Strange Philosophies 113. Fantastic Citra and Mosaic base plus some NZH104 to give it vinous and floral properties. Finishes relatively dry, extremely drinkable, and clean. Hard to beat the complexity of Citra, Mosaic and New Zealand hops. The philosopher wins today.
Winner: Mortalis Strange Philosophies 113

I was quite surprised when I realized I had never reviewed Walk on Water 5.3% Belgian style Witbier from my locally Belgian style beer focused brewery Bold Monk. What a nice surprise. No, it does not quite reach the level of Allagash White, but is adheres well to the style right down to the dry finish, leaving you open to the possibility of another. Enjoying before I fire up the grill for dinner. Cheers BAs!

Glad you got to play some horns @TCgenny I forgot to tell you last night I had a cornet in middle school, before I changed to tuba for HS and college. I can still sight read both instruments . It's something you don't forget. I need to go buy an old Yamaha horn again.

The black and blue bacon cheeseburger was great. It tasted like it was cooked over cherry wood smoke or something.


Creature comforts Tropicalia. Great clean ipa with centennial, galaxy, citra hops. Very drinkable and dank. Not too resinous.

Pilsner Urquell (4.4%): A Czech Pilsner with flavors of lemon, bread, buttery notes.

The Czech gold standard, nothing else to say on this beer. I've noticed my glassware doesn't photograph well when I wash it in the dishwasher as shown here. I do an extra rinse cycle Interesting, but I don't understand why.
I'm seeing some great posts today from @beerloserLI, @GreenBayBA, and @VABA with some Heady and Tree House. I've actually never had a beer from either of those breweries, so you on the east-coast are fortunate, and @GreenBayBA sure has a good lawyer.
