On a mission of the utmost importance. Getting my hands on a bottle of Russian River Brewings Pliny the Elder or Younger. Both would be absolutely dreamy but just being able to get and try one of the two is more than enough. For now… Thus I’m looking to trade with someone in the CA area that Russian River distributes too. I am in the Pennsylvania area about an Hour from Philadelphia, New Jersey, Maryland. Close to Harrisburg, Lancaster, York as well. So I have a wide variety of beers I can obtain for someone out west. Tons of breweries in PA and surrounding states.
Beer Background. I got into craft beer through a friend that was really into Troegs Brewery - Nugget Nectar. A very sought after beer in the winter season when they make it. It was genuinely hard to find 16-19 years ago when I first tried one. I was astounded by how delicious a beer could taste. My experiences with beer before then was Schlitz, Coors Light, Miller Lite, Corona, basically all the domestic beers no one really enjoyed. We just drank it because it made us become intoxicated. So again, had no idea there was this market of delectable beers from “Micro breweries”. Once I discovered Nugget nectar I hit the ground running for the next beer that gave me that same dopamine hit of deliciousness. I started spending entirely too much time in bottle/distributor shops. My beeradvocate journey had begun of course. Seeing all the different ratings and types of beer to try always gave me excitement. Comparing them with what I had in front of me in hand was always pretty cool as well. Thus I’m here. Almost 20 years later ready to finally go after BeerAdvocate’s top 2 reviewed Imperial Ipa beers. Help a brother out! I have no problem going above and beyond for these beers. Just let me know what you want from me. Thanks yall!
Good luck getting younger. Honestly, they prob have a release party somewhere in Philly for it, but you'll have to wait until next year. Elder you'll get, and it's well with it. GL!
Monk’s cafe in Philly does an annual release party for younger. It’s a once a year release, so you’re better off just waiting for the event (usually president’s day weekend) or trying to trade around then, than trying to trade now for an IPA that old. Monk’s also almost always has elder on draft, though it’s up to you whether that’s worth the trek as compared to trading (shouldn’t be too hard to trade for). Check the draft list online before you go.
You're probably only 40 min or, at most, an hour, from Pliny on draft. It's on right now at Bierhaul in Thornton, for instance... along with Blind Pig and some great Hill Farmstead options. https://bierhaul.com/farmhousemenu/
I don’t want to be rude, but it seems like historically with posts like this there’s about a 50% chance of this guy never logging on again.
I checked about 4 different places that Russian River brewing had shown on there beer finder. Bierhaul was not one I made it too. I will certainly give it a go if I can’t get a bottle shipped/traded. Not really trying to drive over two hours just for a draft. Willing too of course if I can’t get that trade though. Just looking forward to a bottle version.
Will do, yeah it seems there are quite a few places in the Philly area I could grab a draft from. All an hour and a half or so from me. Worth it if I absolutely cannot get a trade going.
I can get you fresh or pretty fresh Pliny the elder locally. If you don’t get hits from anyone else just pm me. It’s like $7 for a 17oz bottle. I don’t mind just doing a $4$ with whatever you have easy local access to. I respect the search, and I’m happy you followed up.
