Have a good Friday. I finally got to the Dentist yesterday after 6 years. They need to do 2 deep cleaning appointments next month and reseal my composite molar fillings. Pretty bad state, but not awful. I probably will only be paying as much as adds up to not been going there for the same amount of time. The hygienist said my wife's insurance is pretty good, and after all this they will do cleanings every 3 months, so those will probably be free under insurance. Got denied for another job, even though they said they liked my qualifications that matched what they were looking for, but yet I get no interview Slept all afternoon after dentist and woke up around 11PM. I finished Oscar Wars by Michael Schulman: 4.25/5 Incredibly enjoyable history set up around key historical turning points and specific ceremonies that range from 1927 to 2022. Great overviews of politics and culture shifts through the years. Set up with 11 chapters over 21 hours, so a pretty slow pace book, but I loved it. Right now: Rasputin by Douglas Smith: 4/5 Great and well researched biography that also covers a lot of the Russian royal family intertwined with his life. It sheds a new light on his life and dispels myths about him that have lasted for a century. It was published in 2016, 100 years after his death. Long ass book with 33 hours/850 pages. The North Coast beer was mentioned in the introduction too, I need to go get a 4 pack today. Got a line of kittens on the windowsill when I got home from the dentist. Bell's Two Hearted from a Walmart 12 pack. BB 8/16/2026. I love centennial hops. Tasting awesome as usual. Cheers New Mastodon sounds lovely.
SuperCatNursery hello! Sorry about the dentist thing. I know some joke about dentists: like a psychiatrist they will always “find” something. Drinking La Chouffe Blonde after some usual errands, refueling the poor thing on wheels (yikes!) and home cleaning: Cheers!
Brasserie du Grand Paris ‘’Brume Tropicale’ NEIPA.,. Cheers! Have a great weekend everyone! Here we go!
Omaha bound today. Planned stop at Kros Strain @bbtkd Michelada with the remnants of this beer ran out of steam last night. Hot tub time
Seeing as I smile like Dracula when I brush my teeth, it was an overdue appointment Chuck decided he wanted lap pets. He only does it a few times a month. Bonus pic of Graycyn. She always jumping in bed to bite my ankles 100% of the time. 2/1/2021 Founders Panther Cub. Huge vanilla, marshmallow cream, milk chocolate, cocoa, maple syrup, caramel, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, and light smoke/coffee. Mild herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish. very creamy/silky vanilla/malt body. Mild increasing warmth of 9.2%. Not huge on barrel, but adequate. Wonderful dessert style robust porter on malt complexity. I hope to see it again, I got this in NC. Cheers Cool to see Evergrey released a new album today. Haven't listened to them in a long time. Great impressions right out of the gate.
Hopefully they still have Barreled Distortion Vanilla Coconut Imperial Pastry Stout, which I rated 5.0. If you have a chance, you may also want to visit Wall To Wall liquor in Papillion, a few miles South of Kros Strain La Vista. They have a great craft selection. Last I knew, @tacosandbeer said they still had several bombers of Humble Forager Redwood BBA English Barleywine. They also had Dogdish Head 120 when I was there. Unfortunately VooDoo Taco is out of business. Have fun Russ!
I am sad that I was sick last weekend and missed the opportunity to visit breweries in towns all over Hungary, but I’m super happy I made the last second decision this afternoon to take the train out to Fót and visit Fóti Brewery on my last day in Hungary. This is easily one of the best zwicklbiers I’ve ever had. Happy friday! Egészségedre!
They don’t call this a hefeweizen, simply an “unfiltered wheat beer”. But let me tell you — it’s a damn good hefeweizen. The lady labeling bottles and pouring me beers (I’m the only one here) says they’ve been open 30 years, and I feel like I can taste all of ‘em. Kaszablanka wheat beer at Fóti Brewery. Egészségedre!
Interesting glassware I must say. While nothing surprising about "Hungarian Culture in Romania" I'm surprised it's the go-to glassware at a brewery.
They were those hard-plastic reusable cups. But the handle means your hand doesn’t warm up the beer! They’re mostly to-go, but will pour you a beer if you show up and ask for one I clocked Timişoara on the cup but didn’t ask about the Romanian connection. The cups do also have Fóti’s logo on them, so the glassware isn’t totally random.
G'day all! I'm sipping on this very sour beer from Brooklyn. A little off kilter for my palate. Prost!
