If a poll was taken amongst all BA users I'm guessing the top 5 would come out like this:
    1. Portland, OR
    2. Philly
    3. San Diego, CA
    4. Asheville, NC
    5. San Francisco, Chicago, or Boston

Really not sure about the 5th one but just going from my time here on BA ,I feel pretty confident that those top 4 would appear in some order on a top 5 list.

We do have the poll feature now. Wouldn't want to do it now (let people respond to this one first), but maybe after a couple days we could take this thread, enter the most common responses in a new "poll" thread, and let the voting begin.

I'm familiar with the new polling feature but I'm more worried about drinking beer right now than setting up a poll on BA

I hear you, it's only 5 p.m. here and I just got off work... my beer still awaits. If I remember it I'll set up this poll on Sunday.

I enjoy living in Denver in respect to beer.

Personally, enjoy the beer culture out here more than I did when I was living in Philadelphia. Though, to be fair, I pay more attention to it now than I did when I lived in Philly.

Haven't been to Portland in about 10 years, around the time I turned 21, but I absolutely loved the city when I was there and would have to imagine that a return there with a focus on the beer scene would have me casting my vote to that fine city.

Philly. We're certainly not hurting for great beer in Boston, but Philly is simply amazing. It's not just the quality, but the sheer quantity too. Their high end beer bars are second to none, but where even most good beer cities tend to be dominated by bland bars with relatively dull taps, every other street in Philly has some local bar with incredible stuff. Roll in their distribution, and it's an easy call...

Their stupid case laws are the only thing that holds them back from true craft beer nirvana.

Denver is a front runner in my book right now, but planning a beercation to Portland over the summer and reserve the right to amend my decision at that time.

When I've been to every city, I'll let you know. I think making a judgment otherwise would be like trying half a dozen beers and declaring one the best beer in the world.

Does that mean the city with the best breweries or the city who has access to the best beers, or both? To me, it's three different animals. Let the poo flingin begin.

You could also include things like demographics, culture, climate, etc. I don't care if Mobile, Alabama had access to every beer in the world and sold beer for barely above wholesale value, I still would have no desire to live there.
