I'm finally onto the Palo Santo Marron, WOW, just WOW. Really hard to put to words, there's just some much going on. Smoky, little toasty, drinkable qualified by for what it is, pretty high ABV and even a little sweet. This is just crazy complex and I'm at amazement at what it's going to be like as it comes up to temp.

I almost picked one up today for the cellar. Too bad I didn't. That would have been either the best, or worst, idea ever.

I had one of those while in Madison, WI over the summer and was surprised how much I liked it. I'm going back in July...this is on my hit list.

Went to the bar during the snow "storm" after work. Had a Lagunitas Sucks, Goose Island Big John and a Maine Beer Peeper Ale. Walked out with a growler of Big John which I am working on now:

Edit: all beers were ticks for me and all were delicious!

I hope giovannilucano's out there, 'cuz I bought this with him in mind - my first ever Italian beer, the Verdi Imperial Stout... brewed with hot chili...
These bottles have been sitting in my distributor for 2+ years for sure - I know 'cuz I've seen 'em there - and I keep telling myself, "try one, you idiot," and I know Giovanni would be proud (maybe my in-laws, too - although they're dedicated wine drinkers, they're from Durazzano, Italy, and take great pride in all things Italian - especially my father-in-law (don't get him started - lol)). So I pulled the bottle from the dust and cobwebs (not much of an exaggeration, mind you) and brought it home.

Had to have it right away. Into the snifter...
The head was a dense firm mousse:

Ladies and gentlemen, I kid you not, this was an exceptional beer. So don't despair the dust and apparent neglect - maybe the aging was a good thing, too - this was a real winner. Super smooth and one of the creamiest beers I've ever had (blew oatmeal stouts out of the water) - the spikes of heat from the chili worked perfectly with the subtle, smooth espresso and cocoa flavors - it had an almost porter-like feel - I could drink this all night.

    Cin cin!
