As I had posted in a previous thread, there has been some interest in putting together a simple, easy to understand, and entry level BIF for new traders. So lets start from the beginning:

    What is a BIF?
A Beer-it-forward (BIF) is a trade amongst a large group of people. Individual members are assigned a target and are expected to put together a box that fits various criteria/wants. In other words, each member of the BIF gets a box, and each member sends a box. The point of a BIF is to spread the love, hook up your fellow BA's, and get your own surprise in the process.

What do I need to do to join?
This is specifically meant for members that do not have a huge trading history, are hesitant to begin trading, or just want to be able to try a number of beers from outside their region. Only one rule for participants in this one: Your account must be at least 3 months old from the time the BIF begins.

Do I need really rare beers to join in?
No! You don't need incredibly rare beers to join.

What if I've never shipped beer before? Can you help me?
Of course, thats what we are here for.

What if I've already done some/a lot trades? Can I join?
Of course, the more the merrier.

So what is expected of the box I send out?
    1. At least 100oz of craft beer, and a maximum of 200oz.
    2. At least 2 bottles from your local/in-state brewery(s).
    3. At least 1 large format (22oz+) bottle.
    4. At least one piece of brewery swag (Bottle Opener, Pint glass, Snifter, Shirt... etc)

What should I look for when putting together a box for someone?
First, take a look at their wants list. See if there is something there that is available to you locally or that you already own. If there is then you have the start to your box. Check your targets favorite style? Do you have anything that he would like? Lastly, try to give your target beers that they do not have access to.

Use this list to check US-wide distributions: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ap6d1DIcENXqdHgwd3ZNeTJBellDWFpuQTRKR0FiekE&hl=en#gid=0

    Timeframe
    Sign up: Until February 6th
    Targets assigned by: February 7th
Boxes must be shipped by: February 27th

If you are interesting in joining, please send me a BM with your name, address, trading experience (or lack thereof), and shirt size. I will get back to you as soon as possible.

So what you're saying is we can go over 200 ounces as long as it's all homebrew? :grinning:

As long as at least 100 of it is not homebrew I'd assume you can send as much as you'd want.

Definitely thinking about joining this one. Mailing out my first trade this week. Depending on how that goes I'll make the call.
Biggest problem: everything I have I want to drink. :stuck_out_tongue:

My preferred method of shipping beers typically transports more than the expressed maximum and can itself be considered an extra.

Someones going to need a backbrace by the time I'm finished with them.
