Abyss in Texas

I think their availability would benefit a great deal by consolidating the distributors they work with. They have at least 3 companies carrying their beer in TX (4 before BEK picked them up in SA), and that seems very unnecessary.

I guess that's fair. I know lately I've been jumping peoples shit but honestly I'm a nice guy with a level head. I'm just tired of the typical BA BS that runs good people away from here. Ratebeer is a wasteland as far as Texas goes and this is all we have whether we like it or not.

And if/when I happen to meet this guy I have no intention of jumping his shit. I truly love hearing "stories" people makeup in their head and just totally go with it. One of my favorite bartenders in Dallas does this and I love setting him up just to see how far he'll run with things.

 

Not exactly true, I just drove through OR on my way to WA and found a place with 4 cases just sitting on the floor ready for purchase. They would be around $14-15 a bottle instead of the $12-13 I would normally expect but if I am unable to get any in Galveston I am getting an order there and going to have it shipped for me (luckily shipping 12 bombers isn't too bad) but I would much prefer to buy it locally. Just easier and supports my local beer shop. We will see. Get down here Abyss (to Galveston)!

 

To keep this thread relevant and interesting, anyone in DFW want to bet beer on when Abyss actually hits shelves in Dallas and surrounding cities only, not Ft Worth or Tarrant county? Although no one can be 100%, I'll stand by my prediction of Monday. Depending on what you have to offer, I'll put a Beat B5 on the line.

Went to the Central Market on Westheimer today... the lady that runs the beer section said they haven't gotten it yet, she told me Houston got shipped only 30 cases of Abyss this year.

Rumor has it (from Distributor employee) that Specs got 20 cases. And sold them all out of downtown. Not a SURPRISE! Share the wealth?! Psssh!

At least they sent the same amount to a city with 1/5 the population. :facepalm:

 

When I called Spec's and asked about it, they told me none of the other Houston stores were getting any.
