German brewing equipment manufacturer Alfred Grubner makes a commercial growler filler used by a number of US breweries/brewpubs (Victory's is often mentioned -check YouTube).

A lot of misinformation on this thread. "Counter-pressure" is a method for filling, "screw-top" is a method for sealing. A lot of people are blaming the screw-top for this, like somehow the seal is not good. This is not true in my experience. Sealed is sealed. You do have to make sure the cap is screwed on tightly enough so that it is actually sealed.

+1, this has been my experience .

who is the dick who opened up the growler that didn't belong to them? I'd say that is your main problem.

Spend the extra cash and buy a growler with a latch

Question...is it legit to steal the soda stream from my wife to revitalize my dead growler??
or is it cooking beer now??

Seems like a good idea to me, though I think beer should have less carbonation than soda and I don't know if those machines allow you to adjust the CO2 level.
