Me and a 6 buddies are heading up to Eagle River, WI (from NW Chicago) for their annual Pond Hockey tournament & we planned to stop at a couple places on the way up.

We're leaving Thu (2/7) morning and plan to hit up New Glarus 1st (~10:30), but could use some help on where else to go on the way up. For the most part there's like 1/2 of us who really enjoy beer, so we're looking for a place to stop at around 11-noon to grab some good beer, but also a bite to eat for lunch. That should put us around the Madison area I believe.

I found Ale Asylum, but after reading a few things about it, it sounds just "ok"; nothing special in the way of beer selection.

Hoping some BA's could help me with some ideas.

    Cheers

    Scott

Go to Brasserie V in Madison. Great food, awesome beer selection.

Ale asylum has some solid beers with their hopalicious and some of their seasonal releases. If you're looking for breweries you need to do central waters as their 4 recent releases are all A+ beers, especially if you like barrel aged. Hope this helps some. If you're looking for a good place/bar in Milwaukee, check out Sugar Maple. You won't be disappointed.

Hit up Karben4 in Madison. Just opened up around New Years and they have some nice stuff going on. Also While you're in New Glarus go to the Glarner Stube and order the reuben and cheese curds. Commence loving life

definitely want to stop by CW, but not sure if I'll be able to talk the others into stopping there + 2 other places... but I plan to try!! I love me some BA beers, had their BBS and loved it, & heard great things about all their other BA beers (especially their 15 which, sadly, I missed out on:slight_frown: ). thanks for the suggestion

Sounds like a pretty cool place. Unfortunately it looks like they don't open till 3:00 on Thu. & I think we'll be past Madison by that time. Definitely a place to hit up later though; thanks

Trig's in Eagle River has a pretty nice selection of craft beer if you need to restock.
