I don't want to sound rude, but I hope your beer guy is wrong. My local bottle shop was saying they were getting some, and that will be my last resort to acquire a bottle.

I thought the same thing, and now it looks like nothing for me from TX. I have gone elsewhere for my stock luckily and would probably recommend a similar route as this point. Insane how little we got in TX

This whole situation is a mess...we got plenty in Austin. I don't live in Houston or Dallas and I'm pissed...how can Deschutes stand behind their distributors when they make a debacle of all their big releases? I feel for you guys...we got to do a similar dance last year with Black Butte. Frustrating that a brewery of the quality of Deschutes allows such incompetence for their distribution. Hopefully changes come soon...this garbage is frustrating.

I think I can safely get close to 30 cases delivered in DFW. Austin was flush with it and based on posts I expect they got roughly the same numbers as DFW. On this Super Bowl Sunday I'd be willing to bet 75 cases got to TX and probably at least a few dozen kegs.

Yeah it went fast...but it's a relatively cheap beer. The main problem is this beer gets really scarce out East and I like many of you have great trade partners that I'd like to hook up.

Call this practice for the WBDPP release

With all the driving around I've done in the past few weeks in Houston I think I'd have just been better off taking a road trip to Austin and coming back with like 6 bottles. Probably would've used the same amount of gas, but taken up a LOT less time.

The real screwy thing with this release was how staggered it was across the state..when the same distributor can put Endeavour on the shelf across the state within days of bottling yet it takes a month to release <100 cases. It screams out that BEK is only caring about one thing (see the other top thread right now)

Deschutes proves they don't value Texas customers. I bet no state this big got so few cases.

Easier/cheaper to just get out of state, my first box is coming this week and hoping second in the coming month

Your best bet may be to enter Lonestar's lottery. Willing to bet anyone else that had it is sold out.

Friday was frustrating, but I scored a few bottles. Only b/c I left work early. Most places I went were already sold out by 2 PM.

I am become reasonably familliar with this beer. I have accumulated a four year vericle now. Actually, accumulated a nearly a case of 2010. In past releases, I stand with the brewery "on the fence" with regards to aging.

I hope you mean that your opinion is that it's "better" aged. I can't speak for your personal taste, but I think most will agree that if you actually dislike a beer fresh, chances are slim that you will ever actually enjoy it. Not everyone is going to think The Abyss is a great beer. It has a plenty of low reviews by Imperial stout lovers. Personally, I think it is a very good beer, but I think are better Imperial stouts that don't get the praise. I like GD Yeti at least as much as The Abyss. Interestingly, I prefer Yeti fresh (with conviction.) It is a relatively hoppy beer that becomes a lot more leathery tasting as the hops fades.

2008 OA Yeti was a much greater beer aged than it was fresh IMHO. Many BA Beers mellow over time and completely change. Abyss is one of those beers. To me it tastes smoother and more balanced. Fresh it's kind of all over the place.

Well... I'm starting to feel pretty lucky about the amount of bottles I got in the Austin area. I delivered a good chunk to a less fortunate beer area this weekend (College Station). The rest I will be cellaring at my house. Although, I'll probably bring one down as a "celebratory/sorrow drowning" beer for the Bama v. A&M game in September.

So at this point there is no chance of finding this in Austin? Didn't get a bottle this year

I'd trade 1 for a comparable BA stout of similar limited variety.

I'd really like another Parabola or XVI
