p.s. i know that shit sounds self-righteous and chastising and such (and i'm pretty sure it's obnoxious), but what i'm saying is true. there's no "shoulds" beyond "don't screw people over," and basic decency shit like that. "give me your beer. trade with me," no shoulds for that. entering the territory where that idea seems even remotely correct is entering very bad, very entitled, gross, awful territory. whether you're disappointed that a trade fell through or not.

Black Tuesday is actually my second favorite stout right behind Rare. I guess you can say I like bourbon forward BA stouts.

haha mathematical probability exercises based on bottle counts, limits, and time it took to sell out.

This is why I trade $4$ with beer, and leave speculation and investing to things like...money.

Guess I won't be tasting any Black Note. Hope the rest of my life is worthwhile anyway.

Feb 3rd, Feb 4th, and Feb 5th. These are the days on which Black Note was available in the General Store. Perhaps your definition of "several" is different than mine, but it qualifies in my book. You're missing my overall point, which is that you incorrectly implied that Adam from the Wood was more readily available than Black Note when you mention that Adam from the Wood "didn't sell out for a little while" when in reality it sold out in minutes, and when you gloss over the fact that you could stroll into the General Store on any of three different calendar days and grab a couple of Black Notes.

To bring things back on topic, I traded a Black Note for a Rare. I have another trade set up for Beatification b5 x 2. Though it kind of bums me out a little to learn that I apparently could have traded two Black Notes for a whole case of Adam from the Wood!

No worries, man, it's all subjective. I know one's opinion of what's fair is not necessarily going to be the same as the next person's. My intention wasn't to make it sound like I was demanding and/or bitter about the trade offer not working out, but rather point out that when we're talking about rarity for rarity, regardless of how many bottles one has, I think both AftW and Black Note are on the same level. I just worded it poorly.

also, one's an old ale aged in bourbon barrels for 4+ years, while the other's a blend of 2 stouts aged in bourbon barrels for a few months. of the two, i'd be much more interested in trying AftW (the base beer is one of my favorites to begin with), but we all have different wants and considerations.

Definitely. At the end of the day, I still have an AftW, right? Could be much worse than that.

Yeah man! Adam from the Wood is the third best beer I ever have tasted. It is beyond phenomenal. What are the chances that Black Note offers the same level taste experience (yes, I know taste is beside the point for many replying on this thread), considering many reviewers consider Expedition to be almost as good.

I had people offering me stupid stuff with the same kind of jaded looks of rarity worship for Black Biscuit. Not only was Black Biscuit not worth nearly what people were offering for me to hand fill a bottle, it wasn't even the best beer we had that night.

Rarity is not a taste, and exclusivity isn't a flavor.

It is fantastic. I can't wait to see how it ages.

    Very true.

What are the two beers you've got above AftW?

Alpine Great and Westvleteren 12 are the two I think I would prefer to AFTW right now (subject to change).

I also can't wait to see how it ages. It may end up to be the best tasting beer ever, though it is pretty well aged right now.
