With the crazy snow up here and no EBF there's nothing left to do but drink and chill, literally. Thankfully the Fed-Ex guy was delivering earlier and brought some tasty west coast treats to pair with the bounty from a Hill Farmstead visit on Tuesday and left over bottles from a Chicago trade last week. There are always FRESH Headies around to compare with the rest.

The competitors need no introduction other than the growlers of HF Double Galaxy, Susan and Abner. We killed the Hopslams first and are still unimpressed with the brew overall. Zombie Dust was as great as I remembered, while Abraisive just isn't so great. Headies are our daily swiller staple beer, this batch is not super hoppy, very drinkable and nice. Double Galaxy is amazing and one of the most drinkable, flavorful 8%ers around. The HF Susan is really tasty also, a delight to swill. Surprisingly enough, the L Sucks is tasty as hell. I've been really down on them with lots of disrespect, this is a quality offering and should be ranked a bit higher. Fathead is pretty nice, doesn't shine in the group. Pliny is such a nice change of pace from the opaque unfiltered VT style American IPA/DIPAs that I love so much. The fruit is very pronounced, pineapple that isn't in our northeast brews. Next up are a few bottles of Kern Citra bottled last Saturday that we have absolutely been dying to try and a Growler of HF Abner which is another "always in production" HF beer that you can get anytime. Updates on those to come...

Just moved from Boston to AZ and tried hopslam for the first time and i agree. Id take any of the beers you mentioned over hopslam. Besides, beers like nugget nectar, hoponious union, kiwi rising are cheaper and far superior. I dont think ill ever pay 20 bucks a sixer of hopslam again.

Hopslam is not as good this year as past years in my opinion...

Everything in there is super awesome. I think the BA Numbskull is out of this world as is the Kopi Speedway. You are in for a treat.

I find Abrasive is better than Heady. I like both, but Abrasive is a much better IMHO.
