I bought a 4-pack of W-n-B earlier this year and really enjoyed it as always, thinking that I might like it more than FBS now. I was about to buy another 4-pack and noticed the 4-packs were a hefty $15. I thought that maybe it was just one store, but everywhere else in Asheville that had it was charging about the same price. I remember it in previous years being about the same as FBS, ~$10. Is there a reason for the price jump or is it just in Asheville? I noticed both Big Hoppy Monster and Monk's Revenge were ~$12 per 4-pack as well.

Their stuff has been hyped like crazy, I'm dying to try it myself, but there is no distribution in CO. Supply and demand.

W-n-B is great, but not $15/4-pack good. Especially with FBS coming in sixers next year for $10.

It was around $12 in Durham when it first came out. Maybe they just jacked up the prices since its still there. Total Wine around the corner from me still has it for the same price.

Most of their stuff isnt that great anyway except for the RyePA and WnB.

$10.99/4 pack here in the Tampa area at ABC stores anyways... My local shop still has at least 3 cases sitting there, they've been there for a good month now. I'm thinking I may go grab me a full case.

Seen it for 9.99-10.99 at various locations in Columbia and Florence, same with Moo-Hoo.

That's weird. I wonder why prices are so jacked here. Maybe Tryon is screwing Asheville again like they did last year by holding onto Hopzilla for 2 months.

I suspect that you are seeing the impact of Terrapin's decision to partner with MillerCoors. The business minds are showing their influence. I am not saying that is a bad thing, as companies need to generate capital to grow. And despite the price increase, WnB flew off the shelves this year so I would argue that they priced their product to meet the demand.

Perhaps it flies off the shelves elsewhere, but there's still plenty of it sitting around in Asheville and fading pretty fast. It sits around for a few months every year here.

It could be the retailers near you know that it's going to sit for a while and bump up the prices?

Too many good beers out there that are reasonably priced to spend that much. I have never been that impressed with Terrapin anyway They have some good beers, but nothing that makes me all starry-eyed.

I might suspect it if it were just one, but with all the stores at that price, it makes me wonder if it's the distributor. I know the stores around here and the staff pretty well, and it's not like most of them to jack up the price. I've seen it here and there, but never across every store.

Wreaks of Tryon. I highly doubt this is a result of the retailors in Asheville deciding they want a bit more for it this year. Hops n Vines might, but App Vintners price wouldn't change unless they were being charged more for it.
This is a bummer to here, because WnB is truly great shit because of its quality and pricepoint balance. The difference between 11 and 15 bucks, for me anyway, would mean I'd buy a fourpack instead of the case I usually buy.

Exactly. The different shops in Asheville are most certainly not in cahoots. They are all... very, very uncahooted.

Greenlife is 13, so a little cheaper but still more than it's been anywhere in years past.

Terrapin's beer isnt all that great, as a whole. So, when they finally get one right, the following years they charge you more money for less beer. They've been doing this forever, and it really sucks. But, when you only make one good beer out of every 10 - 15 tries, you have to make money somehow, I guess.

Lot's of undeserved Tryon hate this week...

WnB is a good bit more expensive per case than MooHoo. If someone is charging $9-$10 for it then they assumed it was the same without checking their invoices and are basically losing money on it.

I noticed easy rider (their 4.5% pale ale) was $12 a four pack here in GA. I like that beer, but not at that price. I was surpised to see it priced that high because I don't think ingredient / degree of difficulty wise that beer should cost anywhere near that much, especially from a local brewery. Either they have had a shift in price point over at Terrapin, or the beer stores are over pricing them. Wake n bake, I can kind of understand, but a 4.5% pale ale? That seems way high to me when sitting right next to it was sixers of very comparable beers at $10. That's almost double the price per ounce. At the same time though, their rye pale ale, and hopsecutioner seem reasonable priced.

I remember buying 6 packs of WnB for $10 and 3 years ago got a SIXTEL of it for $85 (Green's in Columbia.) My, how times change. Just saw it for $13 / 4 pack the other day now. :grimacing:
