Still $9.99/4 for WnB, and $8.99/4 for Moo Hoo here.

I know Spike, last time we spoke (last Summer) I asked him about the Tenth and Blake investment. He said that at the time his current investors were making demands on the business and production that he could not live with and got a loan to buy them out. Then because of the debt they didn't feel comfortable expanding production. The Tenth and Blake investment was just that an investment and they have no say on production, pricing or what goes on at the brewery.

    This isn't Goose Island!

This is 100% correct. I have spoke with reps from the brewery and this is the exact same thing that I have heard. What is Stone's motto? It's not too expensive, you're too cheap, right? Right.

Too bad their beer is not even close to being as good as Stone's. They don't even need to be mentioned in the same sentence.

Dude, that's just slander (well, libel, but you know). First off, as noted in this thread, most places (GA and FL, specifically) it's the same price it always has been. That means that if prices are being jacked up, it's the distributor or retailer, not Terrapin. Secondly, even if it were Terrapin, many craft brewers jack up the prices on successful brews. Hopslam at $17/6 pack...really? DFH hasn't sold a beer below $10/bomber in years, and most are more like $15/bomber in these parts. That's 25 ounces of beer for $15 compared to the measly 48 ounces you get with WnB for less than that. Thirdly, you have absolutely no proof of any 10th and Blake intervention. You are just throwing out wild biased unfounded accusations.

I'm seeing W&B for $11.99 a four pack and Moo Hoo for $8.99 a four pack. That's at Total Wine in the Tampa Bay area

though i cannot comment on why the beer is priced as it is, i will defend tryon here as they dont hold the rights to the Terrapin brand in the asheville area. i believe skyland dist carries Terrapin in the market there.

Pretty much every release (besides Liquid Bliss) sits on the shelves for months, including WnB.

EDIT: at least this is the case in Atlanta

First off, I didn't make an accusation. I just said I "SUSPECT" (emphasis added) that this is due to the influence of MillerCoors. I wasn't aware of the pricing disparity in the different markets so perhaps this particular pricing decision has, in fact, been made by the distributors. However, if you (and others) think that 10th and Blake paid millions of dollars for their interest in Terrapin and have a totally passive position with respect to their investment then you just don't understand how these types of transactions work. (This is the industry in which I work and I happen to know the investment bankers who represented Terrapin in the deal.) Next time you (or others) talk to Spike, ask him whether anybody from 10th and Blake is on the Board of Terrapin. That will tell you all you need to know about whether there is any influence from MillerCoors.

So it's actually Terrapin that's upping the price? Got a source for this? Because as noted all over this thread, WnB is the same price as always in a multitude of places. I think the fact that it has only seen a rise in price in a few places establishes reason to believe that it isn't the brewery upping the price.

10.99 at every shop in Asheville going several years back until now. I don't think every single retailer in town failed to check the invoice year after year. Then again, it is Asheville after all

Fair enough, it could just be certain distributors, but I just checked and our cost for wnb is around 30% higher than MooHoo, thus the 30% higher price.

Okay Atlanta and Colorado have nothing in common as far as Terrapin distribution.

If there is some WnB sitting on the shelves send me some and I'll send you some CO goodness in exchange.

It might just be Skyland then since it seems similarly priced everywhere outside of Asheville. The Vintner actually sold their first cases at last year's price and lost money on them before they noticed the steep price increase. I'm just a bit apprehensive of Tryon after them holding onto multiple IPAs for months before releasing and playing petty politics with local stores, screwing some of them over. They've not been as bad this past year, but it will take a while before I really trust them again. Hopslam hitting the shelves a month after bottling this year didn't help.

No, not really. Not as much as others by any means.

I kind of doubt that, unless they are trying to kill off the brand. Nice sideswipe at the conglomerate though.

It actually made me consider putting that one back when it rang up at 12.99 (4-pack) in Roanoke VA last summer. Maybe it's not a local distributor thing.

Every time I open the 'what are you drinking now' thread, someone is ogling the WnB.

Sure there are others out there, but people have definitely been showing love for it.

Hey I think the brewery deserves love. But they have a dozen regulars, about 18 side projects, 8 or 10 special releases and several retired beers out there. I think this brewery mostly hovers under the hype radar for what they do.

Can think of plenty of places in ATL that still have bottles from December laying around. It's way overpriced when you have other stouts of equal/better quality for less $$

Evidently I'm the only one that likes WnB, although world class it's not. I always include it and Moo Hoo in trades as extras and everyone I've sent it to raves about it. It doesn't sit around on the shelves here in Greensboro, N.C. and in fact I could use a case of it for future trade extras. $10.99/4 pack is the price I've always paid.

I'm not trying to insult the beer itself. W-n-B is superb and very delicious. I was just curious as to why there seemed to be a 50% price jump since last year.
