For me, if it's 2 beers that were hard to get I wouldn't mix them. But with brews that are relatively easy to get in my area, or beers that I have a decent stock of, it's worth trying to mix them here and there. But the way I look at it is, it's your beer, and you can do what you want with it. :-)

one of my fondest blending memories was at EBF a few years back when somebody decided to Mix CBS and Utopias.....it's about as dangerous as it sounds.

Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Stout and Victory Hop Wallop.......... Inspired by this thread, I just created my own black and tan with these two beers. The hops balance out the bourbon flavor quite well, though it's bitter as hell!

Black and tans are all I've ever tried ... and honestly, for me the stout overpowers the pale ale to the point that I'd rather just drink a stout.

My bigger concern is learning in what order to drink beers. When I get that down, I might start mixing things.

Would love to try Hopslam with Expedition Stout. Or Ruination with RIS. Check out the local pizza place and their mixes. They always have a great beer selection and pint night every Wednesday. Sorry, they dont have their full beer menu on line, but they have around 20 mixes.

I read it somewhere that mixing equal parts SN Torpedo w/ SN Kellerweiss produces a banana flavored beer that horrifies even the most dedicated of Hefe-hopheads.

I have never mixed beers before but just tried a shot of Maker's in my Old Chub and it made it more enjoyable for me. Not a huge fan of Old Chub and have a couple cans left so I will keep experimenting with other whiskey I have around the house.

So I recall seeing some one who mixing Expedition with Hopslam. Of course although this combo is new, the idea isn't . . . half and half, black and tan, so on. So what are you're off the walk successes and failures?

to be honest, i've never tried anything outside of bass and guiness. i enjoy each individual beer and haven't ventured into mixing yet. other than yin and yang by evil twin, which was forgettable
