Of course, both is the right answer. Someone that rarely drinks when not with others clearly doesn't share the deep enjoyment as most long time craft lovers. I'm guessing every one on BA with some history attends tastings and events frequently but surely drinks a good percentage by their lonesome.

I look at Islandboi on the what are you drinking now threads and he is always pouring great beers sitting on his balcony by himself. No better environment than that to appreciate a wonderful beer in peace. There are always times when events and tastings or sharing with a buddy is great, but at it's core that is a perfect experience right there.

If I am receiving nice barrel aged four pack in a trade, I am cracking one open the second it hits 50 degrees. Sure I may keep one for when a buddy comes over but I do much of my drinking alone which is often the most enjoyable.

Surely if I land a NY crew level rarity I will wait, but the seasonals, fresh IPA shelf whales and brewery releases serve no purpose waiting for a group if not in the immediate future.

No need to be so offensive...

If you only like drinking when other people are around, that's great. Maybe you have a ton of free time and have people over all the time. If I had Scrooge McDuck stash and didn't have to work I would have buddies over every day and probably drink far less alone. However, I still find a great level of enjoyment cracking open a nice bottle by myself and appreciating all it has to offer.

    So you go from:

Step 1: Those that share don't actually like the beer and they take all my Whales

Step 2: Sharing is fine when you are drinking something with a high volume/ABV

Step 3: Sharing is great - except I work too much.

    Bless your heart.

Well, good job exposing yourself as not only a sad little kid, but also someone who knows nothing about beer and is trying desperately to fit in.

I'm not surprised my comments went over your head. Good job representing the new crop.

    What?

You preach passion, sharing, respect, gernorisity and other positive words. But sir, your actions speak in opposite. You stumble across a bottle of Cherry Adam in a trade. So, instead of respecting the trade, or the passion of sharing a beer you received from another BA willing to pass it to you to enjoy, you come on here, and ask, "what can I get for it? What's the market going to give me for this bottle I just acquired?" Pretty much seeing how much you can squeeze out of your 12 ounces of beer that was traded to you. Why not just drink it instead of milking it?

The bold part confuses me the most.

One other approach is to invite one friend over and split this beer or a couple smaller 12 ouncers. Then you are sharing while still not drinking alone. I do this frequently when my larger group isn't available.

If I only had beer when the large group was together then I'd need to add a new wing to my house just for the beer celllar. Wait, does that mean I have a problem???

To your original question... Don't know if it has fallen off, I and others would likely trade you for it. Your call.

God knows pouring a bottle into a glass would be too easy and a giant waste of so much (12oz) "rare" beer for one person to deal

Hey this is serious. I once showed up to a large tasting with a mere 12oz'er and this happened:

Now if people are opening up some Cherry Adam to drink all alone I'll join you, so it's social and stuff. The internet is social, right? The 2012 batch is so fucking good that I'll take any opportunity to consume it.

2008 Cherry Adam is terrible. There's no gettin around it. The 08 and 09 vintages have aged like Seth McFarlane jokes. 12 oz is more than enough for 3 people.
