I was gonna take the family up today as well. Had to buy a car instead. I really wanted to try the Experimental sour... How was it

It was okay. Lightly tart and a bit oxidized. If RU-55 was too tart for you than this was great. The star for me was El Cedro and the pizza :-)

El Cedro was great. Did Stanley's have bottles for sale?

Anyone else have any carbonation issues with RU-55? Opened my bottle of it tonight and it was completely flat. Kept it in the fridge for 3 days before opening, allows it to warm up a bit before opening the top. Still pretty delicious beer, but surprised at it being still!
Guess the good news is I'll be back in Texas in a couple weeks and hopefully can find another one to try. (May even finally make it to the brewery!)

I had posted earlier with the same issue. My bottles with the old cap are basically sour water. Bottles with the new cap (satyr pic) are much better. I was surprised since I bought the ones with the carbonation issues @ Stanley's during the 2nd anniversary party. I expected better to be honest....

Cool, wanted to check since it was shipped to me. I'll look forward to picking up bottles with the new caps in a couple weeks I guess!

I guess the thing that really surprised me was that I thought RU-55 was released after the new caps (Das Uberkind was my first with them). I wasn't expecting the old cap at all but either that batch or that bottling was shit. I haven't been that disappointed with a Jester King brew since the first bottling of Commercial Suicide...

You always have to factor in the time it takes to bottle condition though, so may have been just before.

Not gonna lie, I prefer that batch of CS over the current one. The flavor is spot-on for the style and I have a nice big chalice that keeps the foam in check. I think I may relieve Gabriel's of their remaining bottles tonight since they're free.

And I really dig the oak of the new version. That must be a huge chalice though. My sink couldn't even keep the foam in check when I was dumping them... just wish I knew about the (rumored?) recall before I did that. But that's water under the bridge. I am gonna have to take a trip down to Gabriel's though, they sound pretty stocked based on what I see in multiple threads.

Have you seen the goblets they have at Black Star? It's almost that big, but not nearly as thick. A careful pour with that glass will give me a 2-finger head in less than ten minutes.

had the same issue with RU. Drank one this week with new bottle cap, was wonderful. Two days later had one with the old cap, still good, but thin, watery. Whoever said that above cracked the code. Find ones with the new caps.

Does anyone have a screen cap of JK's Salt Lick?
