Oh yeah really, so what did you trade for it? I'm sure I'd enjoy a BA Saison too....but really?? I've had juicy it was a yawn and I'm a ticker so I want to try Ann, but when I've had most HF brews I just no longer care...I wouldn't trade a 4pk of fresh Abrasive for Ann...seriously, who cares about wine barrel ages saisons???

You're quoting a 3 month old post that has been mega-merged with yet another stupid "Hill Farmstead is overrated!" post. I have absolutely no idea what you're trying to say here.

Oh yea, your taste buds are whack!!
I would never, ever, ever trade my Hill Farmstead. It would be like trading platinum for bronze. I drive 11 hours round trip for it, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna trade it. Shaun Hill truly is a brewing genius.

So I guess that pretty much settles it: Hill Farmstead cannot be over-hyped.

Well, I've never had anything from HF, so I feel completely qualified to respond to this thread. Definitely over rated. Please stop making people happy!

Hill Farmstead is getting the attention it does for a reason. For a little operation like theirs, it's extraordinary what they're doing. I know some think that the rarity is what drives the "hype", but I'm telling you–as someone who has gone to the brewery and had their beers on multiple occasions at multiple venues, it's not the scarcity that makes Hill Farmstead one of the best in the country, it's the quality! Shaun Hill and the guys are true craftsmen.

Ok. I can't believe I'm taking the bait here but here goes.

This whole thread is such a crock of shit it isn't even funny and this post might be one of the most condescending, idiotic, puerile and narcissistic I've seen on this site.

You do know that New Hampshire is a small state that shares a border with Massachusetts, one of the states with the best beer selections in the country, don't you? The same state that holds the Extreme Beer Fest, Belgian Beer Fest and American Beer Fest and is home to a certain website that advocates for beer. You do know that people from New Hampshire can also trade with people in other states for many outstanding beers not found in Mass. Vermont, Maine and the Granite state? You also know that people in NH can travel and try beers on those travels from all around the country, right?

I will guarantee that I've had more beers in more styles from around the country than you have (if your profile is correct I'm 11 years older than you and have been at this (drinking and searching out better beer) since I was 22, so it's simple math). I love big bold beers. I love subtle well crafted beers. So what does that matter? Does that make my palate superior to yours? Do I feel obligated to tell you that you're an idiot who doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to Hill Farmstead? No! That is your opinion. But I'll never understand why people have to start these idiotic threads. You don't like beers from a certain brewery that many, many others enjoy. Ok that's your palate. You are entitiled to have your own taste! But why on earth must you extrapolate and then denigrate the palates of a whole host of other beer lovers who feel that HF is crafting fantastic beers in many styles. Why do you feel the need to tell others, many of whom are well respected in the beer world that they are wrong! Do you truly feel that you've earned the right to look down upon these poor pitiful souls with faulty taste buds?

There are plenty of beers and breweries around the country (and the world for that matter) that I don't feel as passionately as others about, but I have zero need to post a thread about it. Nor do I feel that others who like these products are inferior to me.

Hill Farmstead has 10 beers in the current top 250 and eight of the top 100 on the best new beers list. The other website just named them top brewery in the world. When I travel up to Greensboro Bend there isn't a time I don't see multiple cars from out of state in the parking lot. For their fests people are traveling from all over the country to attend. These are not locals overrating their beers. These are passionate beer lovers who are willing to go well out of their ways to obtain these beers. There are also many respected people within the beer world willing to collaborate with HF, both in this country and out, to produce beers that they know will be of the highest quality because of the skill of the brewers from the Northeast Kingdom. Just because you aren't impressed with their beers doesn't make all these people wrong!

Agree with you on their dark beers, none of it is mindblowing and carbonation has been an issue. I actually think that Susan is a mediocre IPA and has no body. But, Ephraim and Abner are incredible and Double Galaxy is the best beer I've ever had.

There are people who decide they're going to love HF because of the hype
There are people who decide they're going to hate HF because of the hype

I would say the two largely even each other out.

I was lucky enough to randomly be in Waterbury for a wedding. Stopped at the Prohibition Pig and had the opportunity to try several tasting pours of HF beers, as well as Lawson's and Heady Topper.

Side by side, Ephraim was a clear notch or two above Heady Topper (and I frickin love Heady Topper). Just saying.

Haters gonna hate, hypers gonna hype, etc etc etc.
