    I believe you misunderstood. My basement is much cooler than the rest of my house.

    I might have misunderstood, I thought you were saying that the ambient (room) temperature was in the upper 60's. But, your fermentation temperature is in the upper 60's? That is perfect.

    I have to say that, while I have only brewed 7 of them (including hybrid styles with lagering periods), I really like having those beers around because they are "clean" easy drinking beers that most "regular beer drinkers" seem to enjoy.

    Love brewing lagers. And learning to brew lagers will make you a better Ale brewer. Pitch rates, oxygenation, fermentation control all have to be in order to brew lagers well. Ales can get by without as much care but they won't be at their best.

    Obviously people can stick to ales only and figure it all out, but doing a lager forces you to figure it out.
