Went up yesterday from the cape. Roads weren't that bad, but I did have to use 4wd a bit. The worst part was driving home by Franconia notch on the way home in white out.

Went to Parker Pie for the first time. Awesome!

    HF was amazing as always.

My in-laws are in Redondo Beach, and we're popping down to San Diego for a couple days.

So, I ended up taking off work early yesterday and zipping up to HF for the afternoon. The drive was a breeze, almost exactly 1.5 hrs from my work. I dragged my wife along so we could pick up two La Vermontoise's. Got tasters of Harlan, James, Everett and Fear in that order. All were exceptional. The place was bumping all the way up till 5 when we left. The lot was full. Shaun was there, cleaning the tanks, so I got to say hello. He's a very nice guy. Fun was had by all. I will definitely return. I wish I knew about Parker Pie, there's always next time.

I'll post a picture of my haul later today. Thanks to everyone for the tips.

    Cheers.

I was prepared for chilly conditions, but to my surprise, it was like a sauna inside. My glasses instantly fogged over, so it was like walking into a dream, which was appropriate, I suppose.

You have to go to Alpine (~30min drive outside downtown, east) it's amazingly fun and obviously the beers are insane (and cheap!). Have also heard great things about Societe, but haven't been myself per se. I don't know the bottle shops as I always fill up my entire luggage with Alpine bottles

So here I am looking at my first run to HF and I run into Falstaff?

How busy was the place? Is it the kind of place that you can just run in and out in an hour?

It's hit or miss. I've been in, had tastings, 5 growlers filled, and out in an hour on a Saturday. There were plenty of people too albeit 40+ yuppy lookin folk who just wanted to blab with each other. I'm all business. Anyway, the lady spoke of how 'dead' it was there is usually a 1-2 hour wait for grolwer fills... But I e never seen it in my 4 trips.
