Had one last night and it tasted pretty bad, like it was infected. It was tart, fruity and a little medicinal. Anyone had a similar experience that has opened a bottle recently?

I've heard rumors of issue again. I guess i'll have to open one up and try it for myself. It seems odd to me that they would some how infect the same beer two years in a row, when none of their other beers get infected.

The Three bottle I opened had a diacetyl (butterscotch) infection. It was not very good and would have been a drain pour if I didn't have a friend to split the bottle with. I have also heard about this problem in their recent Pale Tail bottling. I have not opened an OBR yet, but I probably will soon. I would definitely not say that none of their beers get infected. It seems more often then not in my experience.

I just had a Pale Tail, I didn't taste any infection.

Yep, I noticed the same thing with the OBR bottle I opened last week. Slight tart twang on the finish, very fruity. A different beer from the bottle I opened immediately after the release. Still, I enjoyed it.

[Edit: both velocihoptor and buffalo hump are still drinking incredibly well]

I didn't notice any infection with the Rex bottle I had, nor the Three that I drank.

I think I may drink a freetail bottle tonight just to finally have a good one. I am hoping that I just have bad luck, but it has not been fun drinking these off beers.

I had an OBR the other night and it tasted fine.

Figgy Wood'n, Bandito, Barreliner Weiss, and Woodicus were all infected. I suspect Ananke will have the same issue.

You should give me your bottles then so I can get rid of them for you.

I hope an "Ananke is infected" rumor gets started.

To the OP I hope it was just a bad bottle. I have already extra'd all of my OBR.

My first bottle was a little tart but it was also my first OBR ever so don't have anything to compare it to. I have a second bottle but just agreed to send that in a trade a couple days ago. I didn't think what I had was tart or sour enough to cry infection...just a slight fruity bitterness that matched up with the rest of the flavors. I hope I'm not sending an infected bottle out but I think the "infected" word gets thrown out rather hastily these days...
