I apologize in advance if this thread has been talked about before, but I haven't seen it. (I also haven't been a member very long, so forgive me). One thing that I love about the craft beer industry is everyone's willingness to collaborate with other breweries in their area and even across the country. I live in Orlando, which isn't that far from Tampa, and I love that Cigar City Brewing does collaborations with a lot of different breweries both in state and out. Some great beers are a byproduct of working together like this. That being said I can't recall Sam Adams doing any collabs with other breweries. Maybe they do and I'm in the dark? Or maybe they do and only sell it in their taproom? Is it because they are the top dog and don't feel the need to connect with the small guys? Do they not want to run the risk of putting out something bad with their name attached? Just thought I'd pose the question. Maybe someone can enlighten me.
SA just did a "collab" with New Albion Brewing. Granted New Albion hasent brewed beer in a long long time, it was still a cool collaboration. They also help out a ton of smaller breweries financially, so I dont think that it is because they have a top dog mentality...though some would argue that.
They did Infinium with Weihenstephan EDIT: Damn you Sasha Grey and your quick typing skills and other excellent skills at certain things
The original Samuel Adams Boston Lager was a collaboration between BBC and Pittsburgh Breiwng Company, and then they moved onto Blitz-Weinhard (Heileman), Stroh, Genesee, F X Matt, Hudepohl-Schoenling and Miller.
You beat me to it. I would consider those collabos. Have any of those brewers gone on to open their own breweries?
